I am going to be analyzing the song "When you Love Someone"by James TW. James wrote this song for a boy he gave drum lessons to. James found out that the boys parents were getting a divorce before the boy did. James knew this would hurt the boy. He wondered how the parents would tell the boy in a positive way in a way someone like him who knows nothing about relationships or love would understand. James wanted this song to be a way for the boy to understand the situation and to connect with it, know that everything was going to be okay.

Lyrics: "You've been talking with your fists
We didn't raise you up like this, now did we."
- A parent would be saying this to their child. This line appeals to the emotion sadness because it refers back to when the parents were together, by saying "we". (0:30)
Lyrics: "It don't make sense, but nevertheless
you gotta believe us, it's all for the best, it don't make sense the way things go."
- A parent would be saying this to their child. This line appeals to the emotions frustration, anger and confusion. But it also appeals the the emotion hope, as it says "you gotta believe us, it's all for the best." James uses these words to persuade the child to believe them, that everything will be okay. James also uses these words to persuade the audience to feel certain emotions. (0:45)
Lyrics: "Sometimes Moms and Dads fall out of love,
sometimes two homes are better than one."
- This appeals to the emotions happiness and hope. This is the point in the song when the subject of the song starts to be enlightened. James uses this line to persuade the audience that there is positives in this situation. (1:01)
Lyrics: "Ya you'll understand, when you love someone."
- This line appeals to the emotion love. The parents are saying to the child that they divorced for the better, they did this because they love him. They persuading him that he will understand. (1:14)
Lyrics: "Your room will stay the same because you'll only be away on the weekends."
- This line again appeals to the emotion hope, hope that nothing will change. Everything will be okay. Persuading that the divorce doesn't mean that his parents don't love him. (1:35)
Lyrics: "Some things you can't tell your sister 'cause shes still young."
- This line appeals to the emotions leadership and protectiveness. Persuading the child that he has to be a leader and protect his younger sister because she is too young to understand. James is persuading the boy that he needs to protect and take care of his younger sister. (2:02)

Most "Misbehaving" kids skip class. It is also hard for those kids to open up to people, especially teachers. (0:16)
Lyrics: "You gotta believe us, it's all for the best."
- In some cases it can be proven that divorces can be beneficial for families, especially children. (0:50)
Lyrics: "Sometimes Moms and Dads fall out of love
Sometimes two homes are better than one."
- We can prove that Moms and Dads do fall out of love. That's why divorces occur. (1:02)
