Women’s Rights Narrative Art Piece

I created this silhouette to raise awareness on health care that has been made illegal to women in 13 different states because of unjust reasons. In a few said states (eight), there are no exceptions for inc3st, r4pe, or the mother’s life. There is nothing murderous about an ab0rtion, especially in situations where maybe the pregnant woman has an incomplete miscarriage, which is completely out of her control, and she has to die becuase the doctors will get in legal trouble if they save her life and abort the fetus. There are so many more scenarios, like r4pe, which is so traumatic, and maybe it is controversial to talk about it, but it happens and to be forced to carry a baby to term because of that is not necessary. Even in not so extreme scenarios, there is simply no reason to bring an unwanted baby into the world. This is relevant as to why I made this silhouette art piece becuase it is a scene of women protesting against this control from the government and even as a person who has not been directly affected by the effects of these restrictive laws, it is a pressing issue that will only get worse. If we look at some facts, the restriction of our rights is clear: After R0e. v W4de - a court case that ratified that the Constitution protected the right to have an ab0rtion (in 1973)  - was overturned, the power to decide on the right to an ab0rtion was left up to the states. Nobody should have to drive three states over to receive basic health care, and many don’t have the resources to. In conclusion, I made a silhouette of people protesting at the white house to remind us it is important to fight for what we believe in, especially in a time where the government is doing unwanted things for their own benefit, including more power and more importantly to make more money.
