When most people eat food, they don't normally check the food labels that are placed unless they have a reason, like an allergy that they have to watch over. Sometimes people check when they're watching what they eat too but most of the time nobody looks or even wonders what we're putting in our bodies. As people, we have to watch what we eat whether we do or not. The things we eat can effect our bodies now or even later on in life. Here, at SLA@Beeber, we have a school store, and we have various snacks and most of the time we don't think or maybe want the healthier option that we could possibly have. I'm here to explain some of the science within a couple of our junk snacks, and healthier snacks that you might conciser eating more instead of getting the unhealthier suggestions.

Unhealthy Food #1: KitKat

We have KitKat's in our school store, and I've seen plenty of people get the ones with four in a pack, what are the Carbohydrates and Lipids that live within that snack though?
KitKats aren't very healthy because of the Trans Fat that's contained in it, Trans Fat isn't good for you and neither is the Cholesterol that it has in it. Neither of these things are good for your body. When you're a kid it seems to do nothing to you, but once you get older, you can tell the effects of it.

Nutrition Label

Amount of Carbohydrates: 27g
Amount of Lipids:
-- Total Fat: 11g
-- Saturated Fat: 7g
-- Trans Fat: 0g

Dried apples do contain some things that may not be healthy for someone to make them taste better than they already do, however it's very little. It's a healthier option because of there not being many numbers above 0 on the label, which is a good thing and means that we should be eating them more as a snack to look after our health.
~~
Amount of Carbohydrates: 78g
Amount of Lipids:
-- Total Fat: 0g
-- Saturated Fat: 0g
-- Trans Fat: 0g

Why should we add these snacks to the School Store?

These types of snacks might not be everyone's cup of tea however they are better for you. If you ate three KitKats and three things of Dried Apples, it would be way better for your body to eat the Dried Apples than the KitKats because of the amount different fats that are included in the foods. Sure, the Dried Apples have more carbohydrates within them but they also don't have any fats like the KitKat does. KitKats also have more sugars added to it than the Dried Apples do, less sugar in what you eat is a good thing.
If you eat too much junk and not more of the healthier options, then your body could grow with problems. As teens, most of us don't really care much about those types of things at the moment, but I feel like we should because right now, everything is being built up and getting ready to fall at any moment in time. The same goes for Veggie Sticks and the Lays Chips, one's better than the other in health, there's and I believe that we should care more about our health, now, then later.
