I chose to do ADHD because I feel its a very common disorder that the affects are looked over. I was drawn to it because I know many people who suffer from ADHD. I learned that ADHD can vary from girls to guys and that there is actual medication to treat it. Before hand, I had thought that it wasn't serious and didn't affect peoples lives. I found it very interesting how as you got older the symptoms changed and it went from more hyper and jumpy to impulsive when making decisions and and build up of restlessness when sitting for prolonged periods of time. I think if I were to do this project again I would try and add more images but I do not regret choosing ADHD as my topic.

In males while ADHD tends to make them more hyperactive and impulsive, in girls though they tend to be more inattentive instead. This leads to females with ADHD being more of daydreamers while boys with ADHD are more disruptive and very active. Both guys and girls with tend to struggle with social interaction as guys argue a lot and break of ties over small things while girls have trouble recognizing social cues.

There are many treatments for ADHD. These include Medication, Behavior Therapy, Counseling, and Education Services. When treating kids with ADHD develop a "treatment plan" with certain priorities - school challenges, self-esteem, anger management, and relationships. Treating ADHD requires medical, educational, behavioral, and psychological intervention. Symptoms vary from patient to patient. Stimulants are a medication that are very useful in treating ADHD. Stimulants are grouped into two classes; Methulphenidate-based medications and Dextroamphetamine-based medications. Not all types of stimulants will work as well so its important to try stimulants from both classes to find the best fit one. There are 3 types of medication that aren't stimulants that also work. These are Atomoxetine, Antidepressants, and Clonidine. When giving any medication you have to make sure you are giving your kids the right amount of medication and check in with the doctor to make sure of this. Children with ADHD should not be in charge of their own medicine.

ADHD is an attention deficit or hyperactivity disorder. It is one of the most common disorders that kids are diagnosed with around ages 2 to 17. Usually, ADHD impacts a child's ability to pay attention, focus, sit still, remember to do things and complex tasks. It is often first noticed when the child goes to school. The quicker the child is diagnosed the better because then they can learn ways to cope with it.

There are three types of symptoms Inattention symptoms, hyperactivity, impulsivity. ADHD Interferes with the daily lives of those with ADHD. Kids with ADHD have trouble with one on one conversations and may fail to be attentive when you call their name.
Some jump into tasks but fail to finish the task or vice versa and they tend to avoid tasks that require sustained attention. Some problems they face are its very easy for them to lose things that are parts of our everyday life and they tend to be restless when sitting down. You may also notice they are very noisy and on the motion which leads to them having trouble waiting their turn. First step when you think that someone you know or yourself has ADHD is to talk to a professional to see if you are experiencing symptoms of ADHD.
To be diagnosed with ADHD you need to show symptoms before the age of 12. As you grow up ADHD is like water in the sense it is constantly changing forms and shifting around. One example of this is hyperactivity levels tend to decrease as you get older and impulsivity may shift from being physically impulsive to be impulsive with decisions. While doctors don't 100% know what causes ADHD, they know that Genes play a very important role in having ADHD. ADHD was primarily seen in mostly men but is now known to be pretty even from guys to girls. Finally, there are many treatments that can be used to reduce hyperactivity, improve coordination, and improve attention span. Stimulants are the most affect medication to treat ADHD. It is generally very safe to take but should be closely regulated. The pandemic has proven to be a big problem in kids with ADHD. The added stress of pandemic changes mood and behavior and there has been a uptick in oppositional behavior due to COVID-19 pandemic. This led to hard time to meet academic demands. But parents can help, they can encourage and reward them and make sure they are getting enough sleep.

This leads them to have trouble picking up social cues, makes them very impulsive, and makes it hard for them to sit still. This leads to trouble finishing homework, them being very forgetful, and having a hard time following rules.
