They faced the haulocauset and have way too many refugees to take care of. Also, The Eu is taking legal action on poland for their reusal on refugee plans by the Eu. Because Poland was a big part in the Holocaust, and there are still emotions and presidential descisions that are impacting people. Polan's economy is very much agriculturally based which makes sense because a lot of the pats in thebook talked about how there were many farms and that the forsests were very luscious. This shows that there is great dirt and things there and that makes them able to inport and export things that they made. the government they have right now is a republic that otes on their president. This impacts the pople because it is a group of people making descisions and the pople also have more of a say in what happens in their country even though the Eu and Poland don't quite have the same ideas per say.

It effects the plot because he could be in a lot of danger at one point in the story and be running away. But another time he could be safe in the forest and taking a bath in the river..
