The Salem Witch Trials were a result of ignorant people that didn't realize that people were lying about witches. During this time, many people were uneducated. They were very religious and believed every word the Bible said. So, when people began to claim that they were cursed by witches, they couldn't see that they were lying. As stated by Document D, "...nothing but the blindness of the bewildered community saved them from... well -deserved punishment..." This quote is saying that the community was to ignorant to see the lie and therefore couldn't punish the actors for causing the deaths of many innocent people.

We believe that the Salem Witch Trials were overall a negative event. They were caused by ignorance, jealousy, and paranoia. The Salem witch hysteria started in 1692 and ended in the same year. The first person was hung on June 10th. Witches are believed to be a person who has been taken over or inhabited by the devil. Most of the people in Salem were Puritans, Protestant Christians who were unhappy with the church in England. We believe that they took the Bible a little too seriously. In "What Caused the Salem Witch Trail Hysteria of 1692?", it states, "'Thought shalt not suffer a witch to live!'(Exodus 22:18)" Other reasons for the Salem witch hysteria are paranoia, ignorance and jealousy.
