If you are curious about Mediterranean plants from the five parts in the world which share Mediterranean climate, the Botanical Garden is the place to visit. It is located in Montjuïc, only a five minutes walk from Palau Sant Jordi.

Before it was established, the place was used as a dumping site. To clean it, the city council asked citizens to volunteer and kindly offered them hot chocolate after the arduous work.

In this marvellous garden, visitors have the possibility to admire vegetation from places such as Australia, California and South Africa and feel the atmosphere.

Opened to the public in 1971 and well-known for its romantic gardens, people can get lost and found in the astounding Labyrinth of Horta, designed by Domenico Bagutti in the early 19th century and built by the Marqués de Llupià.

In its allies we can enjoy the company of neoclassical statues, natural landscapes, ponds and even a few wild animals. Also, visitors can enjoy a drink at the typically Spanish “chiringuito” by the main gate.

Some tourists have reported hearing the moaning and crying of a little girl on rainy days. It is believed that it might be the soul of Belinda Llupià, the daughter of the Marquès de Llupià, once lost in strange circumstances and never found.

A place that has been forgotten even though it is located in the center of Barcelona is this gothic area known as Sant Felip Neri. This quiet place is not packed with tourists, despite the history it possesses.

Unfortunately, many people don't know it was bombed during the Spanish Civil War and many children were killed in the square. It is a forgotten but memorable place.

This is why this place is highly recommended for those who want to know about history. And they will also enjoy the church and the mysteries it holds, like the graveyard under it.
