Frank Ocean is a man of looks, mystery, and most importantly, talent (a lyrical genius if you will). In 2012, Ocean released an album that would forever alter the course of R & B music, titled Channel Orange. Right after dropping this album, he released a banger known as Channel, shocking fans by revealing that his first love was actually a man, not a woman. Channel Orange is an incredibly important period of Ocean’s career because it is the first time fans would listen to Ocean’s love songs from an LGBTQ vantage point. Through Ocean's mystery and songwriting, he has silently become one of the most respected artists in the industry, creating a devoted fanbase of diverse people. Why do you think Frank Ocean is so successful although he only creates music once every couple of years? How can more artists strive for equality like him?

I think that, despite his rarity of album drops, he remains a large name in the music industy and maintains popularity because his music touches the souls of those who listen. Having a wide variety of songs that can evoke various emotions is a powerful tool that will keep people listening over periods of years. Furthermore, I think people anticipate new album drops from the individual so greatly that he remains in the limelight.

Frank Ocean is cool. Evan Kase originally introduced me to his music on a bus ride to New York City. The radio was on when I got in my car yesterday and Pink + White was on. Frank Ocean is cool, but his alien baby and real name scare me. However, he remains popular because of his wide variety of music and ability to connect to listeners.

I think the reason his music is so popular is because he only releases new music every couple of years. Waiting a long time between releasing albums allows time to think and make music that sounds the best to the creator. It also builds interest among fans and others alike who, after being deprived of music for so long, would most likely become very passionate at the thought of a new album. Overall, I like that he uses his platform to spread activism. Being able to inform a large fanbase and encourage them to be responsible citizens is an admirable quality in any famous creator.

It is great to see celebrities use their fame and popularity to promote equality. I particularly liked his quote saying that using his platform is an "opportunity" to do what is right. Hopefully more people who live in the limelight can see his example and do what they can to speak up on important issues in society.

I think he may be successful because he takes time on his albums and that he doesn't rush them out like a lot of artists usually do. He may also use that time to work on his vocals and work with other artists to become better. I know that some vocalists will take a break to work on their singing technique. He seems to really care about his music, so maybe that is why people like his music.

I believe that Frank Ocean is successful not because of his quantity of music but because his music speaks to people. As I was discussing music before I watched the video, music is entirely subjective and dependent on the listener and what the music makes them feel. That's why Frank Ocean is very successful, because he has an audience that he speaks to and understands.

I think Frank Ocean remains successful despite his sparse music releases because of his innate talent and his ability to keep fans and listeners interested. His unpredictability keeps people guessing his next move. To support equality and push agendas they think are worthy, artists can use their social media platforms and connections to create constructive change in their own communities.

For example, White Ferrari is so unbelievably sad and almost everyone can relate to it.

Honestly, I feel like his unproblematic and thoughtful nature is one reason he is as successful as he is. I've heard a few of his songs but I couldn't remember any of them even if I tried which speaks to his fame almost being separate from his musical career. He also probably takes time to perfect his albums which stands in contrast to many artists today. Typically artists are constrained by drop dates and fan expectations, which doesn't hold Frank Ocean back.
