was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 1564.

William was the eldest son and attended the local grammar school which gave him a thorough grounding in the use of language and classical authors. He married Anne Hathaway when he was only 18 and she was 26. In 1584 he left Stratford and went to London. It was at that time that he first experienced the playhouse. He wasn’t a great actor but an excellent writer. Shakespeare became a shareholder and the main playwright of the most successful company of actors in London: the Lord Chamberlain’s Men. He died in 1616 when he was 52 and was buried in the local church.

Claudius' response to the play is suspicious.Hamlet spies on Claudius, listening to him pray. Enraged, Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius, Ophelia's father. Hamlet cleverly escapes, returning in time to witness Ophelia’s funeral. She may have killed herself.Claudius arranges a duel between Hamlet and Ophelia’s brother Laertes.

Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of witches who predict that he will become Thane of Cawdor and "king hereafter." His wife, Lady Macbeth, urges him to seize the opportunity and take the throne. One night, Macbeth murders King Duncan in his sleep, then frames the guards for the crime.Macbeth's best friend, Banquo, was present for the witches' prophecy and realizes that Macbeth is responsible for King Duncan's murder. To protect himself,
Macbeth has Banquo killed. Fleance, Banquo's son, escapes and is prophesied to become king.Duncan's sons Malcolm and Donalbain flee Scotland, where they begin plotting against Macbeth. One of their allies, Macduff, poses a serious threat to Macbeth, so the new king has Macduff crowned king. Malcolm and Macduff join forces and prepare for war.Overcome with remorse over the murder of King Duncan, Lady Macbeth commits suicide. Her death barely affects Macbeth, who has received three new prophecies: to beware Macduff, that "none of woman born" shall harm him, and that he won't be defeated until Birnam Wood comes to Dunsinane Hill. Naturally, Macbeth assumes that he's invincibile.Macduff's forces camouflage themselves with foliage from Birnam Wood as they march on Dunsinane. Macduff, the product of a gruesome c-section, was not "of woman born" and thus has the power to defeat Macbeth, who realizes too late that the witches' prophecies foretold his death and not his success. Macduff kills Macbeth is the play's final act.

A young Venetian, Bassanio, needs a loan of three thousand ducats so that he can woo Portia, a wealthy Venetian heiress. He approaches friend Antonio, a merchant. Antonio is short of money because all his wealth is invested in his fleet, which is currently at sea. He goes to a Jewish money lender, Shylock, who hates Antonio because of Antonio’s anti-semitic behaviour towards him. The loan with Shylock must be repaid in three months or Shylock will exact a pound of flesh from Antonio. Antonio agrees, confident that his ships will return in time. All suitors must choose from among three caskets, one of which contains a portrait of her. As Bassanio prepares to travel to Belmont for the test, his friend Lorenzo elopes with Shylock’s daughter, Jessica. Bassanio chooses the lead casket, which contains her picture, and Portia happily agrees to marry him immediately. Two of Antonio’s ships have been wrecked and he hurries back to Venice.Bassanio arrives the date for the repayment to Shylock has passed and Shylock is demanding his pound of flesh. Even when Bassanio offers much more than the amount in repayment, Shylock, now infuriated by the loss of his daughter, is intent on seeking revenge on the Christians. Portia decides that Shylock can have the pound of flesh as long as he doesn’t draw blood, as it is against the law to shed a Christian’s blood. Since it is obvious that to draw a pound of flesh would kill Antonio, Shylock is denied his suit. Moreover, for conspiring to murder a Venetian citizen, Portia orders that he should forfeit all his wealth. Half is to go to Venice, and half to Antonio. Shylock must also convert to Christianity. Antonio’s remaining ships have returned safely. With the exception of Shylock, all celebrate a happy ending to the affair.
