One possible strategy to reduce stress in the workplace is to provide employees with access to different types of support. Some examples of support include a peer buddy system, encouragement from managers for staff to share problems and staff receiving recognition and praise for completed tasks. Studies have showed that a buffering effect for stress could be provided by social support in the workplace ( Australian School of Business, 2010 ). From this evidence, it clearly indicates that employees could be more efficient with the asisstance in workplace.

Absenteeism and illness can be decreased while the likelyhood of having psychological problems is rising.

One of the major causes of workplace stress is a heavy workload. When employees are expected to complete an unrealistic amount of work within a certain deadline, it may affect psychological well-being. Australian School of Business (2010) claims that in the statistics of compensating employees for the years 2003–4 and 2004–5, the majority of workplace stress resulted from work pressure which is followed by harassment.
