This week I decided on the song I want to do for my recorded version it's called "Lily Of The Valley" and it's an original in the style of slightly softer rock in the style of bands such as Julie or Radio head. The video is of my band practicing it on small pond. I want consider what production techniques I will use to make the track unique and interesting from a production stand point.

I'm still considering what track to do for my performance track but now I picked a recorded I feel like it is easier to pick out a song as I know what techniques to contrast with the recorded track.

This song helps me keep to my smart target because the song helps me work on my smart target of developing my dynamic capabilities as the song uses a wide range of dynamics. The song also has a big focus on "Moeller technique".

This week I picked out the performance that I want to do for my performance. For the creative performance lesson our song was "Chain Of Fools" by Aretha Franklin. For the song my band decided to do a completely different cover in our own style and make a version doing everything Aretha Franklin wouldn't do. I think the main thing that we changed is the changing time signatures and the breakdown at the end, but I ended up really liking the arrangement of the song and I think I'd like to make it into an original changing the lyrics and adding a double pedal part to keep to my smart target for this term.

This track helps develop my smart target of developing my double pedal the link to video at the bottom is a video I used to help me develop and improve my technique. I also liked a video that helped me improve on my ability to play in odd time signatures.

This week I started on the DAW version of my track "Lily Of The Valley" for this I asked my band help me record basic parts for the song as a guide track, I then booked a studio session at Small pond to record drums.

The video linked at the top of the page is of me playing the end of the song. I then comped the best takes together and EQ'd the drums so it's all done and out the ways so I have it ready to hand in for the formative deadline.

I feel like this was really good experience for me because I would like to be more well versed in recording and mixing drums and getting use to playing in the studio.

This week I wanted to get a proper of my performance song I feel like this was a pretty good take so I am probably going t hand it in for my formative but there's defiantly some things I can work on to improve moving forward past the formative deadline. I think I want to defiantly work on the fill going into the break down and improve on my double pedal ability for the breakdown as well.

The video is of me rehearsing in small pond I think for the actual performance for the summative hand in I would ideally like to do it on stage for the summative hand in.

Also for the summative hand in I would also like write new lyrics for the song so it's a fully original song.

In this week after the break I really focused on getting some of my recording done for the DAW track linked is above is a google docs that explains some of the techniques that I've used to get to the recording.

This isn't the final product and I feel the track needs a lot of work but I believe that it's a good start and ready to hand in to receive feedback for the formative assignment.

This is my unfinished track of the song "Lily of the valley" which is the original I am recording using logic. This is the unfinished version to hand in for my formative assignment as it needs some work and editing before i am happy handing it in for my summative assignment.

Also this week I continued to practice and improve on my double pedal technique and and also work on my tracks for both performance and recorded DAW.

The double pedal part I wrote for my performance track isn't too hard however double pedal is something I want to keep working on and improve it in my playing as lends it's self to the style of music I like/ want to play, also I feel like it's a great way to build up more limb independence especially in my left foot which is something I don't feel too strongly on at this point in time.

I was pretty happy with the video overall especially the in the intro as we only came up with that as a added performance element the day before. However there were a couple of elements of this piece I wasn't too happy with, these being:

I feel like I rushed the fill into the ending section and messed up the double kick pattern making it sound a bit messy, before next week when i do my slot at the venue again I will try and get these aspects as tight as possible in order to make the track sound as good as it possibly can.

I feel really happy with the rehearsal video that Is linked above and there is not too much that I could improve on. the only thing is the drum break in the beginning I would like to make it feel more cohesive and maybe before the performance write out some more solid ideas that I could integrate into it to make it sound as good as it possibly can.

(side note hopefully our guitarist will not be nocking any cymbals over on the actual day of the performance).

The folder linked here is a link to my to my recorded track I made using a DAW, on the file in google drive you will find the track itself and a document which is me writing about the process of creation and what I did to get to the final piece such as the recorded elements and what production techniques I used to attempt to get the best sounding outcome out of the track.

I believe I am fairly happy with the outcome and I have developed a successful track but there are certain aspects that I could of improved if I had more time such as making the guitars more even on both ears and maybe making them a bit less prominent as it feel a bit one sided to an extent especially in the beginning of the track.

The google drive folder linked above is the 3 performance takes I got of my live performance track, I believe there are positives and negatives to all of them but overall I chose take 2 of my live performance takes.

I chose this one because it was my favorite and I felt it was the cleanest take out of the 3 that I managed to capture I think a lot of the key parts were quite clean and I'm fairly happy with the outcome of the performance as I feel like it demonstrates good energy levels and high technical proficiency, however if I was to go back and improve it I feel like the ending felt slightly sloppy and I could of gotten it slightly tighter for an overall better outcome of the track.

I also didn't do too bass track just added some amp to enhance the tone in order to make it sound more full.
