The advantages of copyrighting are people can protect their properties. On the other hand it is bad as it is expensive for smaller media companies. 
Copyright laws can be used to shut down illegal torrent and streaming. Copyright can also be used to protect royalties. 
Websites such as 123Movies will be breaking copyright laws for broadcasting movies they don't own. 
Privacy Laws may also come back to bite media companies if they present people through lies. This can lead to individuals suing them.
Superinjuctions are injuctions that block the press revealing information on your private life. 
Libel law is when you are falsely accused of doing something and your reputation is damaged. Who is America staring Sacha Baron-Cohen is being sued for around $70 million for libel law. Jonna Yeats was murdered and her phone was hacked by news of the world and her pre death messages were exposed. Christopher Jefferies was a man accused of killing one of his housing tenants the news reported it was him that did it and painted him as a bad person when it wasn't him the committed the crime. Secret Recordings: Undercover must be trained, crew must remain safe, before recording they need evidence of wrong doing.
Conflicts of interest: Public must be able to trust BBC for tv shows and services.
