Melinda goes through her freshman year and we watch as she struggles to change back into the girl she used to be while becoming someone stronger. This shows how Melinda has changed troughthout the book. Melinda starts the year with one friend and becomes someone who at the end of the novel she is a strong and independent teenager<br>.<del><sub><sup>How the conflict develop the character? </sup></sub></del>The conflict develops the character because Melinda soon realizes that she should tell anyone about what happend that night at a party she attended causing her to isolate herself away from people who she knew. She soon realizes that Andy caused her to have problems but didn't say anything about it. She learns that she should tell anyone and that she shouldn't let anyone or anything ruin her life.</div>]]></description>

Throughout the book she begins to encounter "IT" making her feel less insecure about her location. This fear gets to the point where she begins to have issues with her herself and begins to conceal herself in a closet where she feels more safe.</div>]]></description>
