Feedback is the provision of information before, during and after an experience. This could be verbal or non-verbal

Feedback supports children’s learning most effectively if it gives them clear and specific information so that they think about what to do next.

When is this technique used by adults or children?

Adults can use feedback after a success of the child.

Include an example of this technique being used

An example of this, could be a child who has successfully put the final pieces in puzzle after several attempts. She was finally successful because she decided to match the colours on one side of the puzzle piece with the colours in the puzzle. Staff could give feedback on her success through a smile or comments such as, “you must be pleased to have found how the pieces fit after so many tries. It seemed to work when you put the same colours together”.
