In my personal life I am frequently a ‘go between’ with my mother and sister.  I listen to both of them and try to find a middle ground that they can agree upon.

In my academic life (which is new to me after a 25-year absence) I try to find a harmony between my personal life and this recent addition of school work that takes up much of my free time.  It’s a work in progress.

In my personal life I love to travel.  I want to see new places, meet new people and experience different cultures.  I have extensive journals of my trips so I can look back and recall memories of my times in other places.

In my academic life I take detailed notes and keep everything on the chance the information would become useful to me some day.  I still have notes from classes I took 25 years ago on the off chance I might need them.

In my personal life I need a tidy house.  I keep things in their place.  My home is my sanctuary and I don’t like chaos and clutter.  I want to be able to know exactly where something is at or what needs to be done.

In my academic life I keep a list and I frequently check and re-check what assignments have been completed and what I still have left to do.

In my personal life I enjoy reading books about history, I love traveling to different places and learning and experiencing history.  I believe learning about history and how others lived, what they lived through gives me more empathy for people.  

In my academic life I think any knowledge is important, but history gives me reference line on which to base all my learning.

In my personal life fairness is something I live by.  It is a value that informs all my decisions.

In my academic life I am informed on what I need to do and get it done.  I try to simplify my tasks to make completing my assignments easier and less stressful.
