Their world war isn't very civil, and you can tell by the way the boys are acting. The rest of the world is in a war, and it's subtly influencing the group's behavior. They are visibly agitated throughout the book because their male family members have been drafted and some have been killed, along with a large portion of the world population. They are chaotic already, and being on the island alone isn't helping. 

Imagine if you were Ukrainian right now, with Russia invading your country. You took a jet out of the country, finding refuge in another country's city. If you crashed, had no communication with your family, and were alone with no one but people your age and younger than you, would you be as chaotic and untamed as these boys? The characters symbolize desperation and fear. They're terrified of life alone, of life without their families and friends. 
Will the boys follow some sort of civil laws at any point? Will they calm themselves? Will they realize that teamwork is the only way to live? I hope so. The mindset that can be involved in any time period is on how people try to show off to seem better, this could be on the human nature. Humans, are sociable and should be able to stay that way so people can remain stable enough. Being social is probably a mentality how we should be or act. But, we would need people to help us build ourselves up. Herd mentality back in the day was a way to keep people in line, but this is not the main reason why people should stop being social. Being social can help you keep some sanity like the boys are trying to keep sanity. But since they are deciding who is leader and only following that person can lead to disaster and make them lose some kind of sanity. Ralph's lips formed a word but no sound came. Suddenly Jack bounded out from the tribe and began screaming wildly. "See? See? That's what you'll get! There isn't a tribe for you anymore! The conch is gone-" (Golding, 181) Another piece of evidence is  “Viciously, with full intention, he hurled his spear at ralph. The point tore the skin and flesh over Ralph’s ribs, then sheared off and fell in the water. Ralph stumbled, feeling not pain but panic, and the tribe, screaming now like the chief, began to advance.” (Golding, 181). These two quotes show that Ralph has no idea what he is going to do next. He is completely alone and in shock.

Ralph definitely survived, and were rescued by officers, although not in the way I predicted. I did think Simon was not going to survive, due to him telling Ralph that he will go home, and not we. I did not expect that Piggy would die.

 The ending seemed to rushed? but it was good overall. I honestly thought the Lord of the Flies would kill them off, but only made them follow him. Answer: I think the way that the book ended was a good way to end it. I did like the ending. At the end the boys finally get to feel a sense of relief. We get to see the way that Ralph truly felt about Piggy. The whole book has been becoming darker as it went on and to have a cliche ending of getting saved has little meaning. The fire was ironic that Ralph was trying to control a fire to get saved, although it never happened.
