There are so many other events going on that people pretend like nothing happened, because they do not want to address the actual situation. This shows how we only focus our attention on the good and positive things, and ignore the hardships and unfortunate events happening on around us. I think Childish Gambino made the music video so that we as the audience are solely watching what he does, and his distracting dance moves, instead of looking at what is happening in the background. This shows how we do not pay attention to the important negative things in our country because we are so distracted by the good. Childish Gambino also mimics jerky dancing and facial expressions which is supposed to symbolize "black face" which was a racist show that Caucasian people would do for their own entertainment. This means that he is trying to cleverly make fun of something that was used to make fun of his race. Throughout the background of the video, you can see a lot of real world problems. A man jumping of a ledge which is supposed to symbolize all the suicides that are happening today. Another example is the church choir being shot was to symbolize the church shooting. This echoes Let America be America again because I think that Let America Be America Again portrays how they want America to be peaceful and not chaotic. They want America to be free which is also a conflict shown in the This is America music video.
