The incentive system that I intend on implementing in my future classroom would be simple and straightforward— that is, I will reward my students when they demonstrate a specified behavior. This will give my students something to look forward to and answers the question "Why Should I?" The grade level that my classroom incentive system is geared to is preschool. It is difficult to determine the demographics of my future class because it varies depending on the village my school would be located at.

My classroom incentive system would go something like this...

Whenever my students would display on-task behavior (for example, actively responding, turning in homework and completing seatwork in a timely manner, quietly raising hand to ask a question, etc.), I would have them pick out one incentive from the prize box. The prize box would include a variety of small incentives such as healthy snacks, stamps, erasers, stickers, and many more!

An additional bonus incentive that I would offer my students on top of these small incentives is a preferred activity. This is for students who display on-task behavior for the entire school week (from Monday to Thursday). Every Friday would be called "Fun Fridays!" This is the day where students get to choose an activity of their choice and play with it for a defined period of time.

*Please refer to the picture above to get a better understanding of my classroom incentive system.*

How i would have classroom incentives is having a monopoly money earning in the classroom. how I would do it is by every reading or math goal achieve I would give them for example $10.00 of our class monopoly money. Taking initiatives in the classroom could also have students earn money. they can choose to save it or cash it in for prizes. that way, they learn how to earn, save, and manage the money they earn.

The incentive I plan on incorporating in my classroom is the ticket reward system. Students can earn tickets when they continuously display a targeted and positive behavior. Such actions can include actively participating in discussion, keeping their work area clean without having to be reminded, submitting assignments on time for the whole week, and more. I would provide my students a list of ways they can earn their tickets. However, my students can also lose some of their tickets. For example, if a student constantly disrupts others during instructional time, their ticket can be revoked. When students collect a certain amount of tickets, they can choose to redeem them for a prize. Depending on how many tickets have collected, they can redeem prizes such as a free homework pass, a pencil or pen, or a treat of their choice. Aside from individual prizes, I would like to add a reward that the class can achieve together as a whole. If they would like, they can work together to collect tickets for a big reward such a snack party or a movie day. I believe that this reward system will motivate my students as well as promote good behavior. I would really like to use this in the future because it causes each individual in the classroom to be mindful of their actions, which would also influence the whole classroom dynamic.

My incentive program: I will discuss with the students about the rules and procedures that they would have to follow during school time. Every day that they do well in following the rules and procedures, I will give them a token. The tokens that they saved during the week can be used every friday to exchange for a toy, school supplies, or a coupon. The students do not have to use the tokens that they have saved for the week on that Friday. They can save it for another week. In the class, the students will be seated in groups, they can put their token together to purchase something that will benefit the whole group.

An incentive program that I chose is one based on a points system. An example is that if the entire class earns points through completed assignments or good behavior they can qualify for prizes based on the points earned. I believe that team work is essential to success so the students must work together as a class to earn points. If rules are broken or assignments not turned in, then points will be lost. If the entire class votes to use the points they have, they will have to earn those points back again.

While there are many different types of incentive programs, one incentive program that I would like to implement in my classroom would be the use of a whole class point system. While regular point systems focuses one student's behavior, a whole class point system will invoke students to work cooperatively together to get the incentive for said tasks. As a future teacher, I want to ensure that my classroom is as inclusive as possible that there is no sense of bias or favoritism at all. This whole class point system will completely motivate the students to do better as a class, which lead to incentives that will benefit the class as a whole instead of one student.

*Image above would be an example of tallying points.

Here's how it works:

Each student will receive one punch card at a time.

Students will fill out the form on what type of incentive they'd like and show it to their teacher for approval. (must be appropriate)

When students earn their punches, the teacher must initial the number of holes received at the top.

After ten punches, the student will drop their fully punched cards in the dropbox.

When the dropbox reaches its full capacity, which is up to the teacher, the whole class will receive PAT. (Ex: If there are 50 punch cards by the end of the semester, they can have a movie day)

Optional: Each quarter, the teacher can check which student turned in the most punch cards in the dropbox.

Independent Work:
The incentives that I would offer for independent work in my classroom would be individual preferred activities. For example, if one of my 5th grade students finished their math worksheet with 10 consecutively correct questions, then I would let them choose between going to the Reading Nook or the Art Center. I would probably have more choices for preferred activities, such as having a Computer Station or a Game Corner.

Group Work:
If my students were working as a whole group or in smaller groups in subjects such as reading or social studies, then I would offer group incentives to the entire class. For example, I could tell them that if they answered the reading comprehension questions correctly or finished writing their reflective journal entries within 20 minutes, then they could choose their P.E. activity for that week. Alternatively, I could also let them pick their 2 favorite activities for recess that day.

An incentive I’d utilize would be the gumball group points. To make it age-appropriate, I would consider creating a free day on Friday’s.
Instead of labeling the machines by groups, I’ll label them by class periods. I plan to work in the high school level so there are a new set of students every other two hours.

This would occur at least twice every quarter because it will be based on certain area of learning. It can be difficult for students to catch up with their achieve articles. Every quarter, they’ll need to complete 10 articles. However, I’m going to develop an incentive system that will encourage my students to work collaboratively and proactively. For the incentive system — In order to receive a gumball, each student has to complete 5 passing articles. Once the machine is full, they avail of the Free Day Friday. This gives them a set goal to achieve for the quarter and meet the incentive goal.

For my incentive system, I will be using the ticket system. Tickets will basically be like money. Upon completing work or winning a competition in one of my activities, I will give a certain amount of tickets. I will then have a "store" where students can redeem these tickets to get the items. The more expensive an item is, the more tickets it will cost. This system will be introduced in the beginning of the school year so that students have time to gather tickets and save up for the more expensive items.
