The way he walks shows that he is confident in his down skin. He is able to walk proudly through the halls of his own home even though he has been gone for many years. 

But he tends to act like a mouse sometimes because he doesn't stick up for his father even though he's right next to him. On line 445 it shows that the suitors are being horrible towards Ody. the begger, but he doesn't say anything even though he is getting beaten with a chair.
