         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Cancer is a disease in which some cells in the body grow out of control. There are many different types of cancer, and each begins when a single cell acquires a genomic change (or mutation) that allows it to divide and multiply uncontrollably. If there are additional mutations, the cancer can spread to other sites. These mutations may be due to errors during DNA replication or result from DNA damage from environmental exposures (such as tobacco smoke or ultraviolet rays from the sun). In certain cases, mutations in genes that cause cancer are inherited, increasing a person's risk of developing cancer.<br><br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A histone is a protein that provides structural support for a chromosome. Each chromosome contains a long DNA molecule, which must fit into the nucleus of the cell. For this, the DNA is wound around histone protein complexes, which gives the chromosome a more compact shape. Histones are also involved in the regulation of gene expression.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

We have just verified, for example, that epigenetic changes also occur in arteriosclerosis and some types of dementia.<br>We know that in some families there is some familial aggregation and that it is not purely genetic, since there is no inherited mutation; so perhaps it is an epigenetic alteration. We will also analyze how environmental factors can influence and if there are epigenetic changes that predispose to dementia.</div>]]></description>
