"Now is the time to show our valor! Let us go and help our chief where the heat is about him, glowing and grim." (Hinds np)
"And in its vault they heaped the hoard - glittering spoils they had taken from the Worm's lair - trusting it to the ground, gold in the earth useless to men as of of yore it was." (Hinds np)
These quotes are from the battle with the dragon. The first is discussing when Beowulf's men go and help fight when they see Beowulf in need. They do not want their king to die so they will do anything to help him. In the second quote, Beowulf dies after he kills the dragon and his men bury him with all the dragon's treasures instead of keeping them and using them to trade, they use them as an honor to Beowulf. This shows that Beowulf had an impact on them and that he was someone that people respected and honored.

“Sketch of Beowulf .” Thinglink, Thinglink, 2015, www.thinglink.com/scene/713015604394590209.

"The hero our King lies there on the slaughter-bed, sleeps heart-sick by the serpent's deed." (Hinds np)
For the third part of the plot, once Beowulf returns home he finds out he is now the new King. He is now the King of the Geats. He soon realizes there is a dragon in the kingdom, so he goes out to find and kill the dragon. In this fight, he also didn't want to use any weapons but knew he had to because he was now old and not as strong. He was successful and killed the dragon but in the fight, he was also wounded to where he died.

“Beowulf Fighting the Dragon .” Thinglink, Thinglink, 2015, www.thinglink.com/scene/649254139015987201.

"Many deeds of note have I done in my life, and now the reports of the monster Grendel have brought me to your land." (Hinds np)
"So now I am come, my lord King, to fight single-handed against this Grendel." (Hinds np)
For the first important part of the plot, Beowulf heard of the evil Grendel disturbing King Hrothgar's hall, so Beowulf came to help the kingdom and fight Grendel. This is Beowulf's first appearance in the novel. He fights with no armor to make the battle fair. Beowulf wins the fight which makes the hall safe again from the monster Grendel.

“Beowulf Fighting Grendel .” Sites.google, Google, sites.google.com/site/beowulfaepicnovel/main-events-of-beowulf.

"Beowulf had mortally wounded his foe, but an avenger yet lived: Grendel's mother, a loathsome troll-wife who dwelt deep below the waters of the moor." (Hinds np)
"Beowulf soon delivered to Hrothgar the hilt of the giant-sword and the severed head of Grendel." (Hinds np)
For the second part of the plot, after Beowulf kills Grendel, Grendel's mother is still alive and comes to the hall for revenge. Beowulf says he will stay and fight her to protect the hall once more. He goes out to find her and once he does, he once again does no use any armor to make the fight fair again. Beowulf battles Grendel's mother and wins, making the hall safe again and making it time for Beowulf to return home.

“Beowulf Battles Grendel's Mother .” John-Howe, 4images, 2006, www.john-howe.com/portfolio/gallery/details.php?image_id=3636.
