-One of the scenes in the novel describes what it was like to live with their grandmother, and I figured it would be something I've personally experienced as well. I had to live with my grandma when things were tough and I was young, so I can understand what it was like for them.

The reason this quote is important is because it explains in just a sentence how Rose Mary feels about the childrens lives. Rose Mary (and Rex) doesnt care how the children are brought up, not bothering to put rules and restrictions on them to, basically, see how they would be because of that. The parents didnt pay any attention or care about the children, letting them roam around freely. They were awful parents.

-A significant even that occurs in the story is when Jeanette burns herself while cooking hotdogs. The purpose of this telling is to show how her parents arent around enough and dont care for their childrens safety, theyre neglected.

2. Is there a relationship between the beginning and the end of the story?

-There is considering this is telling a true story. It shows what happens from the earliest memory and to the present time, showing what happened.

3. How do rhetorical strategies (like ethos, pathos, logos) enhance the story? 

-They enhance the story by the emotions thats given, mainly pathos. It makes you feel so many different things straight away.

-The issues determine the characters' lives because Rex and Rose Mary had both chose the life they live now, to be homeless and suffering. The two both had education and opportunities to live a normal life, but didnt. The choices they chose caused their children to suffer with them, something they didnt choose. The children didnt have a choice to live that way.

In this chapter, hence the quote, shows how Jeannette feels about Rexs drinking as she grows. Shes now noticed his behavior as an alcoholic, how terrible he truely is by this addiction. As her birthday wish.. she wishes for Rex to stop his drinking completely so they can live a normal life. This quote also shows the mental/emotional state she is in to even say something at a young age about her fathers habits. In the end, Rex loves his daughter Jeanneatte and attempts to stop, but soon falls back into the habit after everything went so good.

-The role that is played in this story could be about when Lori was reading her fantasy books. During that section Lori was encouraging her siblings to read it as well because it takes you to a new world. This could defintely show a lot for her.

1. What do the characters emotions and behaviors reveal about their psychological states?

-During the rock fight with Brian and Jeanette with those boys, they had decided to built something to launch rocks at them. It stated their goal was to kill those boys so they can use them as a warning. That really shows their behavior from the state they're living in to cause those thoughts and wants.

This quote was chosen because it shows how Lori, the eldest, felt when Rex said he was ashamed of them for not caring that Erma passed. Erma had treated the children, and Rex, horribly so Lori was very glad the women was gone. It also shows some hurt and disbelief from her, that their father felt the need to be ashamed of his children yet not like how they're ashamed of him being their father. It's hyprictital to her.
