Beah as a child soldier experience the most distressing war in the 20th century in his life.  Beah was a 12-years old boy, were the civil war in Sierra Leone entered in his life, in 1993. He was taken by rebels in his small town into sudden separation from his parents. Beah and the other terrified boys were in the same situation wandered along the jungle tracks scrounged for food and were recruited into the Sierra Leone Army to become boy soldiers. Given rudimentary training, Beah and the other boys are been force to fight and kill innocent people, until he was rescue by the UNICEF fieldworkers and sent to a rehabilitation center in Freetown. There were nurse, counseling , and other people tried to help Beah to return normal to fix his mental health stable to hurt people.
