He was 12 yrs old when the civil war in Sierra Leone first started. Once they reached the Atlantic ocean they were recruited as boy soldiers. He has done 2 years as being a boy solider and killing people. He was saved by a UNICEF fieldworker's and sent to rehabilitation. When he was captured by hostile villagers he was set free because he had a few rap tapes could mime the songs.&nbsp; </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;In '' Babes and Arms'', by William Boyd,&nbsp; the author provides a review of the child soldier is Ishmael Beah's memoir. Beah as a child soldier experience  the most distressing war in the 20th century in his life. &nbsp;Beah was a 12-years old boy, were the civil war in Sierra Leone entered  in his life, in 1993. He was taken by rebels in his small town into sudden separation from his parents. Beah and the other terrified boys were in the same situation wandered along the jungle tracks scrounged for food and were recruited into the Sierra Leone Army to become  boy soldiers. Given rudimentary training, Beah and the other boys are been force to fight and kill innocent people, until he was rescue by the UNICEF fieldworkers and sent to a rehabilitation center in  Freetown. There were nurse, counseling , and  other people tried to help Beah to return normal to fix his mental health stable to hurt people. Finally, Beah move to live in the United States to experience a normal childhood life.</div>]]></description>

So they ran eventually becoming so desperate when they got recruited by the rebels  that's how he first got exposed to the war head on the memoir explains that Beah seems then to have gone on a 2 year mind bending killing spree.  Which could be Inferred that It must of took a toll on his mental health. After  he got rescued by some UNICEF fieldworkers  and taken to rehab which helped him get his mental health back up after his treatment he moved on to America to have a better life and graduated from high school Then Oberlin college and Became an author of a book A Long Way Gone. Even though he moved on from his terrible childhood he still can't help but be reminded of his past which he talks about in his book.</div>]]></description>
