The centaur said, ‘“You are overtired, I think. You need water and food, both. It is a long way to my home on Peliod, too long for you to walk. So we must make other arrangements”’(72).

Chiron shows his wisdom when he identified that Patroclus was tired and needed to rest. Chiron wisely created a plan to bring Patroclus and Achilles to his home. The centaur uses his abilities, as a half-horse, to give Achilles and Patroclus a ride up to Pelion.

(Pg. 79)

The centaur shows his wisdom because he wanted to see Patroclus before judging him and sending him away. He was also not deceived by Patroclus and Achilles when they came together, and lied about the reason Patroclus was there.

Innocence

“Achilles asked, “how could he not recognize his wife?” “That is the nature of madness,” Chrion answered. Achilles shook his head, impatiently. “But this was a greater punishment for her. It was not fair of them.””

This is innocence because Achilles doesn’t comprehend the concept of madness and needs Chrion to explain. Even then, he still doesn’t get it.

"We lay on the ground and let the flakes cover us, blowing them with our breath till they melted." (89) This shows innocence because they are being almost childlike when laying in the snow. This is a typically youthful activity which adults would not do but children probably would. This shows that they had not grown as much as they thought they did and still as childish as they were before.

"She is also young and has the prejudices of her kind. I am older and flatter myself that I can read a man more clearly. I have no objection to Patroclus as your companion." (80)

The centaur shows his wisdom here both physically and mentally. He shows his wisdom physically by revealing his age, which is directly correlated with his knowledge and savvy. He shows his wisdom mentally because he realizes that there is nothing wrong with making a mistake.

""I am not a lord, Patroclus Menoitiades." My head jerked up at the sound of my father's name. "I am a centaur, and a teacher of men. My name is Chiron." I gulped and nodded. I did not ask how he knew my name." (P. 72)
_____________________________________________
Although they had never been introduced before, and I don't believe Achilles mentioned him to Chiron, he immediately knew exactly who he was. He also mentions that he is a teacher and shares his wisdom. That is why Achilles was sent to him. Later in the chapter he mentions that he is familiar with medicine and knows how to do conduct surgery.

Chapter 8. (Wisdom)
“I knew that sound. It was the sound of stealth,” (pg. 69)
This is an example of wisdom because Patroclus knew that someone was behind him without any physical evidence. Knowing someone is behind you by sound is wisdom because he was able to use his other senses, sound, without just relying on sight.
