1) Key learnings:

How bad air pollution is for human and our health, our body system.
To read forest plot and learn from the results.
How we were exposed even before our birth have significant impact for our current health.

2) What surprised you

Fukushima disaster - how authorities released the 'radioactive' water into the ocean in Japan.
Bushfire disaster in Australia.
Connection between social media and alcohol as a matter concerning the environment health of young people.
Ted talks on Chicago heat wave. How significant the impact to various groups.

3) Environmental health story/news past weeks:

Flooding in specific areas.
Bomb cyclone --> more severe because of the climate change. Storm is quite 'normal' but cyclone is not often.
Dry season night feel colder in Jakarta.

4) Reflections and tips

Everyone feels to post a 'perfect' post with all the citing and reference. Very awkward way to have discussion.
This week is more 'triggering' personal discussion.

Key learnings
1. The issue in our adulthood can start in utero (the life course component of environmental health). Curious about the impact/situation in the old age.
2. Differential susceptibility (i.e., how environmental effects can influence health more positively or negatively).
3. How important is birthweight as a factor that might influence overall health and wellbeing, as well as other modifying factors (e.g., sociocultural factors, etc).
4. Air pollution materials
Surprised us:
1. Initially, we thought that it was going to focus more on the environment, as in like climate change, etc -- but apparently, it does take a different lens (i.e., life-course).
2. The impact of environmental exposures
Story/news:
1. Recent flooding and storms in NSW, thinking about climate change
2. Electric cars, searching the materials from low- and middle-income countries, have a severe environmental impact
3. Chicago health wave, how our community is built, disaster resilience, and adaptation?
4. Hurricane season in the US
5. Natural extractions in Raja Ampat, Papua, Indonesia, and the people are aligned in their views around environmental activism
Reflections and tips for peer-led forum discussions
1. Other people post late, but you are doing the critical review
2. AI-generated texts (links to references do not work, or the reference has a different title, extremely old references, what was written in the post is not aligned with what was written in the references)
3. Not much of moderation, lack of interaction component - the moderator can consistently share a prompt, responding to other comments.
4. Four questions seemed too many and broad.
