The three toed sloth is an arboreal neotropical mammal, these creatures are usually found hanging upside down from a tree. I choose this spices because I am a big fan of sloths, I think they are very cute and according to some research there has been found that there is microbes in their fur that can potentially help fight human diseases including breast cancer. These creatures are unfortunately endangered due to the deforestation and degradation of their habitat.

Monarch butterflies are insects with two orange/red wings that span to about 4 inches when they've reached maturity, the males have black dots along their veins and the females have white dots along the edge of their wings. They only live a little longer than a month. I chose this species because I find butterflies beautiful creatures especially their wing patterns. When monarch butterflies lay eggs they lay them only on milkweed found in mountains or forests, it's also the only weed they feed on when they're caterpillars. Unfortunately due to agriculture and the removal of milkweed these butterflies experience habitat destruction which reduces their population and offspring which is why they're an endangered species.

The endangered species I chose is the Whale shark and its scientfic name is Rhincodon typus. The whale shark has white dotted spots patterned all over its body. An inference I wanted to share with you all is that I think this species is called a “whale” shark is because of it’s similar physical appearance to a whale and I think that is seen through it’s mouth shape. According to the website World Wildlife, Whale sharks weigh around 11 tons, habitat in oceans, and it’s food source are planktons. I chose this species because, all endangered species are all equally important it didn’t matter which one I chose I just wanted one species that was going to be easy for me to draw. According to the website World Wildlife one reason why Whale sharks are endangered is because of its high value in international markets because their meat, fins, and oil can be sold.

The orangutan (Pongo) is a species of ape and is the largest arboreal mammal. This means that they live and trees and have many adaptations such as long arms to reach the many branches of a tree and red fur to keep themselves hidden at times. They are native to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia. I saw a picture of an orangutan making the :o face and decided to do that. Baby orangutans look funny and cute. The main reasons why orangutans are endangered are deforestation and habitat loss. Over the past few decades, rainforests in South and Southeast Asia have lost 12.4% of their forest cover (40,029,000 hectares). Anthropogenic activities like logging, palm oil production, and agricultural expansion are also contributors to orangutans' habitat loss.

They have a thick blubber layer that can be 5 inches thick. They are social animals and they travel in small pods, but they also have very sensitive hearing. I had chosen this species because I thought beluga whales are a really cute species and I know that not many people really talk about beluga whales and if they do its always about their head. The impacts of climate change and overfishing is the reason why the beluga whales are going extinct, with the overfishing it is becoming harder for beluga whales to find food causing them to decline.

They tend to hunt during the night or dusk and hunt small rodents. They are usually grayish, brownish and red in fur color. They are endangered due to climate change since now the mountains are hotter and drier since now there is more competition for food with coyotes and now they are inbreeding due to low population and mating with other nonnative foxes. As well human disturbances with snowmobiles since there could be vehicle collisions. I chose the vulpes vulpes necator since I like foxes and I think they are extremely beautiful creatures and how their face is made to look.

The global population of wild tigers is about 4000. This is 7% of the historical population. I chose the Panthera Tigris because I like the Felidae family and I thought that it was bizarre that they were dying out because they are very interesting species. It’s endangered because people cleared the forests for agriculture and timber, as well as building of road networks and other development activities, which pose serious threats to tiger habitats and depending on their location are affected by noise pollution.

They can only be underwater for 2 hours, requiring more energy when searching for food. I chose this species because they remind me of my grandparents because where they're from they do this event where you can help baby turtles get into the ocean. Another reason for choosing the turtle is how important sea turtles are for maintaining coral reef ecosystems, which they've been doing for more than 230 million years. The main reason for these turtles being endangered is climate change, Climate change has made it difficult for sea turtles to maintain their habitat. Pollution has also caused a lot of harm to sea turtles. They end up getting caught in plastic or their habitats are destroyed by humans.

Beetzie Guerrero Vazquez: This is a picture of my keychain , that I took waiting outside the school building this morning, of the poison dart frog from the dendrobatidae family. These frogs are described to be small and brightly colored amphibians that inhabit Central and South America. They have four toes, a long and sticky tongue to catch prey with, and secrete poison from their skin glands. I chose this species because frogs are cool and I noticed nobody else was researching them. Poison dart frogs are endangered/ a threatened species mainly due to habitat loss. All dart frogs live in rainforest habitats and with the drastic increase in illegal logging and deforestation, it decreases the territory available for the frogs to live in.

I took this picture outside the school near the Overfelt Adult Center. This is in the back-ish of the center. This is where the red flowers are located and I took this on May 9th, 2023 at 3:43 pm. My photo relates to environmental science because flowers are a biotic factor in environments, flowers use cellular respiration is a process that occurs in the mitochondria of all organisms. In this process, both plants and animals break down simple sugars into carbon dioxide and water and release energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate.

This is the Hawaiian Crow or Corvus Hawaiiensis. Their whole schtick is that they are a crow and they live in Hawaii (It’s really quite self explanatory). They are the last of 5 different species of crows that inhabited Hawaii sadly the other four have gone extinct. Some of their major characteristics that differentiate themselves from other crows is their rounded wings and THICCC beak. I chose this species because I like crows and they’re considered the most endangered out of all the Corvids. Scientists are unsure of why these freaks of nature have drastically dwindled in population but it is assumed that it was due to a pandemic of “Avian Malaria” (Sounds delicious) and to knock-out the “Apes Vocab Term” requirement “Well-being” which is ironically exactly what these poor crows aren’t.

Recycling is important for the environment because it reduces the amount of waste in landfills and incinerators. Resulting in them not being where they should be, concentrating on them as a food source to be preyed upon, or just resulting in a trap which exhausts and kills them.

Red Pandas, also known as Ailurus Fulgens natural habitas are in high altitude forests. They’re most located in mountain ranges. They live in temperate forest type biomes. This picture was taking to try and depict a red panda in its natural habitats. High altitude forests have lots of trees which provides them their food resources as primary consumers and shelter.

Soil is an essential component of our environment. It not only provides nutrients and support for plants but also helps regulate the water cycle and stores carbon, making it a critical component of ecosystems. Soil also houses a vast array of microorganisms and other living things, many of which are essential for maintaining healthy soil. The health and quality of soil can significantly impact the sustainability of our environment, and it is therefore important to understand how soil functions and how it can be protected and managed for long-term sustainability. Environmental science is the scientific study of the relationship between living organisms and their physical, chemical and biological environment. Therefore, soil science is an important discipline within environmental science as it focuses on the study of the properties and function of soils, as well as the interactions between soil and living organisms, including plants and animals.

my name is laura. the species i did was a cross river gorilla (gorilla gorilla diehli). the cross river gorilla is a critically endangered species in the west. i chose this species because i like monkeys and they're basically in the same category. The cross river gorillas are mainly going extinct due to hunting and habitat loss. the vocab term i relate to is anthropogenic which means caused by human activity.
