Multiple diseases such as smallpox, malaria, measles, yellow fever, and influenza were transferred from Europeans to the Native populations. As a result, the Native population declined and as a result, were more susceptible to being conquered by the Europeans. The Native population was exceptionally vulnerable to diseases because they had been cut off from the rest of the world, and were not exposed to outsiders with different lifestyles and as a result, did not develop an immune system to fight off diseases.
