Having robots in the industrial sector does bring more benefits. If we were to look at the age distribution in a handful of countries, it is said that there will be an overload of people working over the age of 60. Now, these workers although highly experienced could be lacking the energy and efficiency they once had. Robot are not like that. their work is consistent and can guarantee 100% turnouts. Moreover, robots are able to complete tasks at a shorter period of time.

The downside to this is that workers would lose their jobs. However it could be overcome by providing a bigger job scope transition which is closely related to the technological advancements. Then again, not all jobs require a robotic element. Jobs which involve interaction like doctors, teachers, lawyers to name a few require human-to-human communication, something which cannot be achieved by robots. However, being too dependent can cause one to misuse the technology or even get just plain lazy. I guess it depends on the individual himself on how he makes use of it. Fire in the wrong hands becomes a threat and danger. Therefore, I think it is safe to say that our reliance on robotics is a good thing. While there may be a few hiccups along the way, in a long run it will yield more benefits.

At the bright side, increasing reliance on robot some how helps in the advance of a country economy. For an example, in the agricultural perspective, back in 1800s, 80% of workers was forced to work on farm. Currently only 2% is needed. Obviously, it didn't drag the economy down but in fact rise it.

Thanks for all the comments! Well, for me, yes I do agree that human rely on robotics a lot especially in this era of technology. The good thing is that most of the work is done more efficiently and manpower problem can be solved easily especially in those low population countries such as Greenland, Monaco and many more.

However, the grass is not always greener on the other side, I came to see that human’s nature are eventually affected by these robotic inventions. For example, their curiosity on something decreased as there is no need to worry about doing that particular thing as we have robots to do it. What I meant is it would be nice if human can appreciate the long process of how a task is done and all the theory behind it. However, as what Syaranya mentioned, in the end it depends on the individual himself too. I think that’s what differentiates a normal human being and a scientist.

Also, I think that the increase reliance on robotics also affect human's communications between each other. I said so because if a job is done by human, it would be many human, not only one. So, since the works are not done by human, I think it is safe to say that they would have spend less time with each other, thus leading to lack of communications, eventually relationship between them would be weak. However, there might be different opinions. What do you all think? :D

I do agree that reliance on robotics will definitely affects human's curiosity to discover and social skills. However, I disagree that this may be a bad thing. In fact, I believe human's creativity and social skills will improved with this trend. My argument is based on the use of artificial intelligence. With the rapid advances made in technology, it is undeniable that the field of artificial intelligence has reached a level with limitless possibilities.

In November 2017, NASA announced it used machine learning to discover 2 new planets - an example of the integration of human and artificial intelligence that improved human's curiosity to discover. Also, I believe humans will have more time to communicate and socialise if humans were to rely on robotics. This is because there may come a time where humans do not need to work anymore in the future as there are robotics and automation for that.

That is very true! It is not deniable that artificial intelligence has helped human to unlock new achievement. The best example would be Apollo 11, the spaceflight that landed two first humans (Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin) on the moon back in the 1969. Since then, the moon is ours to discover and explore haha. Nice point there!

This is all controlled by the robots with the power of internet. As per Jing Han mentioned above, there will be lack of communication between humans. This will leads to many problem later because of lack of understanding.

Oh yeah i was reading about article intelligence too. It is actually a computer scientist, means a stimulated human like intelligence where thinking robots and machines perform task that include language translation, visual perception and basic decision making and problem solving skills. The negative impact of this is human tend to lose their skills because they become too dependent on the technology but the good part is way more time can be save up and also efficient. So artificial intelligence is a blessing and also a curse. haha

Yep that's what I meant. Also, I would like to add on some of the downside. Can you guys imagine how much money and time are spend on the invention of these artificial intelligence? For example, robot-assisted surgery. Since there are surgeons and doctors who are trained to perform surgery, why then waste money on inventing robot-assisted surgery? Although it is beneficial in a way, but is it really necessary? Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? How will it differ if those money is used in combating other worldwide problems such as famine or poverty instead?
