Perhaps Phoenicia's biggest bonus besides being situated on the Nile and close to the Mediterranean, was the very valuable cedar wood. Many kingdoms in the middle east traded with them in exchange for wood. This wood was needed for ship building. However, if the Phoenicians charged too much, other nations would potential attack them. Their legacy would live on for a very long time as Carthage would be around for many more years until its conquest by Rome.
