The best way to protect our students is to keep them informed.

The biggest challenge is getting students to use technologies for learning in the school environment. For them, computers, tablets or mobile phones are playful tools, while at school they are confronted with their use as a work tool.
Furthermore
there is still a large group of underprivileged students who do not have the resources and their families also do not know how to use them and cannot help their children to use them.
Students also need to know that the internet and social networks can be dangerous and they need to be made aware of their correct use. Safe internet day activities are always a precious help.
Digital is here to stay and will be more and more evolved. Teachers need to follow up properly so they don't fall behind.

The elections become more exciting, attract attention and make children understand a specific use of the devices they use only to play without knowing the dangers. In fact, only by staying at school are they made aware of the rules to be followed on the web. In some areas such as in the school where I teach, not everyone has a PC at home to bring them to use for teaching: this obviously becomes a problem

Working online with children of my school poses several challenges. First, their competences in working online and their knowledge about applications and programs are very different. While some have an advanced knowledge, others have never worked with tablets or computers before. What seems most significant is that many students know their way around the internet, but lack basic computer skills (Office, typing speed etc.). Also, the kids know about issues like copyright data protection, but they do not know how to pay attention to these principles when working. One way to mitigate these problems is to firmly integrate phases of working online into the curriculum. This is what my school plans based on a media curriculum for every subject and grade.

For the students in my school, the use of technology, especially in the pandemic context in which I learned online learning, is quite easy. The problem is that many know how to use technology only as a game tool, they do not know how to use it as a working tool to help them in their collaborative and creative work. This is the point at which the etwinning and erasmus projects can intervene effectively, the students also understanding the need to protect themselves in the online system, using the internet with discernment.

Access to almost everything is immediate, fast, easy. There are virtues and benefits, but there are also problems and dangers, especially for the youngest.
The Internet, which showed the world a new world, should be an increasingly safe place. But not quite. The Internet can be good and it can be bad. And children and youth are an easy target.
The safety of young people on the Internet should be everyone's responsibility and require a comprehensive approach from governments, schools, parents, educators. Even because living online is here to stay, distance learning has already been used, and digital education is increasingly important.
In Portugal, the MiudosSegurosNa.Net Project emerged precisely to help families, schools, communities, in the responsible and safe use of new information and communication technologies by the youngest.

Students are fast learners when it comes to technology and new tools. It is a bit worse with teachers, especially older ones. Working with students online had several advantages and disadvantages. For instance, when you are at school, they feel they are more forced to work and you have a control over what they are doing and how. When we had a distance learning, some of them pretended they had technological problems just to avoid working. What all of them liked, interestingly, were the projects. Through eTwinning it was fun, they collaborated, created new ideas and outcomes, so I think it is in the first place to motivate students to do something which is interesting for them and give them a good grade at the end and it will work well.

There are many benefits in learning with digital technologies, but also some challenges and potential risks for students and schools. During the coronavirus pandemic with national lockdowns and school closures, this use has intensified. Despite all the opportunities the digital world provides – such as playing, learning, socialising and participating in civic life – digital engagement comes with risks to children’s safety that can have real-world implications. In my opinion, the problem is trying to motivate and captivate students to use technologies in the classroom. There is still a long way to go, and the entire educational community has to be aware of the benefits as well as the associated risks.

The propensity for certain behaviors, in this case the adoption of learning and teaching processes and business based on information and communication technologies is a lasting value of the school. An important outcome of the educational process is information literacy, which is becoming an inevitable part of school culture. Information literacy is followed by elements of safe behavior on the Internet, the issue of preserving the privacy of students and school staff, online violence among students, unauthorized downloading of content and the issue of copyright, which, along with fundamental values, are important elements of school culture.
The role of the School in society is to provide students with the acquisition of competencies, knowledge and skills that will enable them to live and work according to the requirements of a market economy, modern information and communication technologies, scientific knowledge and achievements.
Our vision is to become a digitally mature school that will use ICT in learning and teaching to improve the acquisition and application of new knowledge, while enabling individualized access to students and continuous development of digital competencies of staff and students.

Hello everybody!
Currently, security on the internet or in the digital space involves greater information from students about the dangers of the internet, for example, bullying, pedophilia, etc. For this, at my school, conferences have been made for students using police technicians (judicial police), specialized in internet security. I think this initiative is well received by students and should be extended to parents. In addition to the conferences, the topic is addressed in various disciplines such as information technology (ICT) and citizenship.

I mean that in my school technology is already being used by all teachers in classes. Technological devices and different tools are in our environment of teaching and learning approaches.
Our school has an Action Plan for Digital Development Plano de Ação para o Desenvolvimento Digital (PADDE), which means it is a priority to integrate digital technologies into our routines.
Obviously, there are regular sessions, even with police officers specialized in Internet security, that are promoted to clarify to students how to be safe while using the Internet. We also develop activities for Safe Internet Day. Students are informed about the importance of behaving on the Internet, respecting, keeping their privacy safe (image), being careful with Fake news, cyberbullying and paying attention to copyrights. Even in Citizenship and Development, this issue is debated. When working on eTwinning projects students get acquainted with Netiquette and all eSafety rules. In conclusion, providing the right information to students and monitoring what they do on the Internet ( parents are also important in this process) is crucial for the use of the Internet safely.

For me the biggest challenge has to do with the selection of information and understanding which sources are safe and have correct information. Then the issue of copyright, it seems that our students think that they can get hold of all the information that is on the internet. Another challenge is more related to security, they easily click where they shouldn't and access content they shouldn't or see their pirated equipment. To mitigate this we must continue to make our students aware of the various dangers they face when accessing the internet. I think that this awareness can and should be done by people with recognized authority, such as police or people from companies like Microsoft. I think it also works if it's people who've had bad experiences talking about what happened to them. In schools and at home, you can also configure a router to block access to websites with certain content.

Like some of my fellow Portuguese teachers have stated here, we have Seguranet, which is a website for young learners. We start using it in primary years to raise awareness to all the dangerous posts and misuses of the internet and digital connections.
National competitions take place in order to promote the best practices and make sure students are actually understanding what they are being taught through digital games.
Raising awareness to cyber bullying, cyber blackmail, sharing information online, making videos and sharing them on social media has been a huge part of this digital literacy we are promoting at our school.
In a time and a place where the pandemic thrusted all teachers and students to a digital era, recognising risky online behaviour can be tricky. As teachers we cooperate with law enforcement to prepare seminars with real life examples of what has happen to other students who ignored e-safety and didn’t bother to learn the rule of law before sharing either personal information or third party personal information.
Unfortunately, students nowadays need more than theory to realize the actual risks they are taking, that is why it is very important to start teaching them netiquette from an early age. If they can operate a digital device, they need to be aware of the rules too. This is the part where we invite parents and community to attend seminars and share experiences. It is important that all stakeholders are on the same page in order to protect our children.

The biggest problem is that students think they know everything about the computer / tablet because they know how to install games on their own, so they are not sufficiently aware of the dangers of the Internet. We learn to single out important content, not to pretend to be false, not to give your information to everyone. At school, everyone works on the computer under the supervision of the teacher, and they do not bring their mobile phones to school. From the 1st grade, they have computer science classes where they learn a lot about security on the Internet.

Nowadays, technological society brings us many advantages as far as knowlegde and digital literacy are concerned, nevetheless, some cons has to be coped with. These are fake news online, cyberbullying, Internet safety and identity theft among others.
A possible solution to help students is teaching safety tips with lessons, workshops and lectures. That's why all the school community get lectures on Internet safety from the Mossos police department who give examples and answer students' questions about using internet at school or home. Whenever there are some problems with Internet, the school tries to deal with it as soon as possible with students, families and the police dpt. Although Internet gives us many advances, it also brings many negative side effects, for example it is time comsuming and children waste long hours instead of spending time outdoors and being more creative with other activities.

As I work in primary schools and there aren't computers for students in classrooms, the issues about Internet safety at school is to let them be aware of the internet dangers and safety rules while using it because they use my computer and when they are with me.
In order to do so I have been introducing Safer Internet Day celebration with eTwinning groups and 3rd and 4th grade students and also explaining why there is the need to protect their data and image.
As far as search work is concerned I always remind them they should use Creative Commons or always refer where they got the pictures or data.
To take part in etWinning projects parents are always asked to give permission for participation and image use.
Our middle and high school is more active as far as this issue is concerned. Students are older, already use mobile phones, can access computers at school too. so, they have IT lessons where they talk and learn about e-safety and also our school is connected with Seguranet too.
