To change the shutter speed you have to press on the other dial on the right side, using the ridged scroll to change the numbe. When using the shutter speed, the camera captures the photo blurry (slow shutter speed) or in focus (fast shutter speed). You would want to use shutter speed as priority as it allows you capture objects in motion and makes it freeze completely.
