The Y.pestis disables the immune system. There are three types of the plague. The Bubonic plague, The Pneumonic plague and the Septicemic plague. The Bubonic plague was the most common plague, you would get painful lymph nodes that appear around the groin, armpit or neck. The skin became black and that’s how The “Black Death” got its name. The Pneumonic plague is the most infectious type, it is the stage that moves on to your lungs. This type could be passed on from person to person easily. After the first 2 plagues if untreated it would pass on to the third stage which is The Septicemic plague, this stage infects the bloodstream. If you leave it untreated The first 2 stages would kill you. People tried making the boils drain so they would let the pus out but they would die because of the poison from the dead blood and pus. Popping them could also cause death because of toxic shock. They also tried putting herbs near the boils and putting the victim in vinegar and rose water. I feel bad for them because they tried everything they could do to cure the black death but nothing worked for them. People were coughing blood, it was one of the symptoms of the plague.
