I am originally from Iraq, Baghdad. I grew up surrounded by war which I think contributes a lot to the person I am today. My dad joined the U.S. Army while we were still in Iraq. He worked as a translator for about six years which was dangerous for us because at that time, Al-Queda was tracking down any Iraqis working for the U.S and killing them. I am majoring in criminal justice because I would love to make people feel safe, the way those soldiers did when there wasn't much hope left. 
And I like to draw because it mutes the whole world out. Whenever I'm stressed or sad I draw. It helps my mind focus on one task. Same goes for reading. I think stories are the best thing that this world has to offer. We can exist in infinite universes without leaving our rooms. I think my generation grew up being very influenced by the media. We are always being told how we should look or act or feel at our age. Which has a heavy affect on our self-image and self-esteem. I grew up in a world where from the second you are born until you die, you are being told what kind of woman you should be and how you should act. Every decision has been made for us before we are even born. And I am a feminist which makes it worse for society apparently.
