The idea of having students research other women who have faced adversity and overcome it is amazing. Sometimes students see one example of a woman who made change and think that is it. There were many women in the world who made changes and this assignment allows for them to explore more.

What a cool unit! I didn't know that there was a sequel of One Crazy Summer. Based on your description, it seems like it covers a lot of great topics for students to explore. Specifically, I like how in your lesson plan, you focused on exposing impactful women.

I love the connection of the song about the vietnam era to the book, I think it really extends the students' reading and applies it to other areas of American history

Ashley and Nehad, I enjoyed looking through your unit plan. I especially enjoyed your hinge activities as they are creative and unique. It is also really impactful that you are having students research women that are not often learned about and talked about in schools. I feel that students will thoroughly enjoy this unit and it engages them in different modes of learning such as music, art, and graphic organizers.
