Each season brings its own beautiful blooms that captivate everyone passing by. Before entering the flower-viewing area, you'll come across a small pathway formed by four heart-shaped structures, where many families take photos there. Along the path, you'll also see people jogging or riding bicycles.
A trip to Gongguan

This time, our group report focuses on Gongguan, and I chose Riverside Park as my sustainable tourism destination. Starting from Gongguan Station, I rode a Ubike to Riverside Park. I believe cycling is an energy-efficient and carbon-reducing mode of transportation that also provides exercise. Along the way, we passed by the Water Source Park, which helps reduce water resource waste and offers the enjoyment of playing with water. Across from it is the Water Source Community, providing accommodation primarily for students, especially foreign ones. It is quite beautiful, with a large convenience store downstairs that includes a bookstore, an ice cream shop, and various goods.

Next, we headed to our destination, Riverside Park. I observed many people, like us, cycling on the road, and many parents were bringing their children to admire the beautiful flower fields. There is a bridge in Riverside Park that leads to New Taipei City, making it very convenient. The definition of sustainable tourism for me is being able to show love for the Earth during travels, such as bringing our own water bottles to reduce the use of plastic cups. We chose to ride bikes or walk instead of using motorcycles. If you want to appreciate flowers, green plants, engage in physical activity, and contribute to protecting the Earth, choosing Riverside Park is a good option.

On the way back, we passed by many vendors selling delicious food, tempting me to stop. We tried our best to choose packaging made of paper to reduce the use of plastic bags. This journey was conducted in the most environmentally friendly way possible, and we learned a lot in the process.

In this journey, I personally experienced that sustainable travel is something we can achieve in our daily lives. Despite being small, we still have the ability to contribute to our planet. What impressed me the most was riding bicycles in the Gongguan area, where most people were also cycling. Before heading back, we entered the National Taiwan University campus and noticed that students mainly use bicycles or walk; hardly any cars or motorcycles were seen. In this trip, I felt that the surroundings and people in the Gongguan area are gradually embracing sustainable travel. Most people use their own eco-friendly cups, and I gained a lot from this experience. Sustainable travel starts with us.

Before heading back, we rode our bicycles along National Taiwan University's Yelin Boulevard, and it was quite relaxing and comfortable. We felt the gentle breeze on our faces, creating a pleasant experience. Along the way, you'll see many students of a similar age using bicycles as their main mode of transportation. Additionally, there are several classroom buildings around. As National Taiwan University was established during the Japanese colonial period, the campus design reflects a sense of Japanese architecture, it filled with historical traces.

When you visit Gongguan for a sustainable travel experience, you must visit the Drunken Moon Lake at National Taiwan University. Taking in the natural scenery and strolling around the lake is a great choice, whether it's in the afternoon or evening. Drunken Moon Lake is situated in the middle of the NTU campus, surrounded by reeds and several weeping willow trees, creating a picturesque view. It's also a lovely place for an evening stroll with friends after school.
