This involves allowing students to be able to choose when, where, what, and how they learn. Learning can take place at a table, chair, or rug. They have a choice of doing a hands on activity or work at their desk. Co-teaching is also apart of flexible management and this can benefit students learning because the teachers can play off of each others strengths to teach the students.

We can assess knowledge, misconceptions, skills, and levels of mastery. It helps chart student growth and provides students with feedback. Three kinds of assessment are pre-assessment, formative assessment, and summative assessment. The pre-assessment is used to determine where the student is currently at. Formative assessments are done to check students understanding during instruction and provides feedback. Summative assessments determine the students mastery of the lesson. Assessments benefit students and promote learning by providing evidence and data that the teacher and student can use to check growth.

The Zone of Proximal Development benefits students because it pushes them slightly above their learning level. The task is not too challenging where the student cannot understand the task and it is not too easy where the student would loose interest. Good thinking skills helps students develop facts and opinions, find meaning, and appreciate different points of view.

When we embrace children's differences instead of looking at the standard of what is normal, we can provide children with a sense of belonging and open up more opportunities for them. Using accommodations and modifications in the classroom helps students reach individual goals and promotes individual learning.

Multiple Means of Representation, Expression, and Engagement

This is part of the Univeral Design for Learning. Representation focuses on the "What" of learning and provides options for perception, language and symbols, and comprehension. Expression focuses on the "How" of learning and provides options for physical action, expression and communication, and executive functions. The engagement focuses on the "Why" of learning and provides options for recruiting interest, sustaining effort and persistence, and self regulation. The UDL benefits students and promotes learning because it creates ways to modify and accommodate lessons to meet all students needs.
