My favourite Romantic period composer is Robert Schumann. Now, I would like to use 3 reasons to explain why I am the most fond of him among all 4 Romantic composers we learnt in term 1. Firstly, I appreciate his strong passion in pursuing a music career. He left the study of law to be a piano virtuoso. And even tho his hands weren’t usable at the end, he still continued to compose different pieces. Secondly, he is gifted in many genres. Not only did he composed quite a few pieces, he also found the New Journal of Music and suggested excellent pieces to help new found, gifted composers. Thirdly, I enjoy learning about his life, especially his love life. The unique love triangle story intrigued and sparked my interest in learning more about Schumann and his wife, Clara Schumann is also a splendid pianist.
