A zygote is formed when the sperm fertilizes the egg. A zygote contains 46 chromosomes, or 23 from the female and 23 from the male. Chromosomes are found in the nucleus of cells, they carry the genetic information and together form genes. The 23rd pair of chromosomes is the sex chromosome, this pair determines the sex. The match created by the 23rd pair of chromosomes is called a Kara type.

A male zygote is a mismatched X and Y chromosomes.

A female zygote is determined by the matching large X chromosomes.

After birth, neurons will continue to increase and the brain will grow. The neurons will now make connections called synapses. This is because there is a significant amount of learning done. Experiences will also help to weed out some neurons, as you are born with many more neurons than you need.
