"It was times like these when i thought my father, who hated guns and had never been to any wars, was the bravest man who ever lived" This quote showed that Atticus had courage to pick up the gun and use it even though his despite of guns and violence.

During this chapter we learn that Mrs.Dubose was fighting against a drug addiction and she was dying. Her dying wish was to die free dependent on drugs. She knew it was going to be hard and that she would suffer, but she still did it and succeeded.

She tried to lose this addiction so she stopped taking the morphine, knowing she will still die soon she did not want to have this addiction.
