Preparing students for the real world outside of the classroom is crucial. The classroom is not the be all end all, and lacking the soft skills when you go out into the world can cause the individual to be unable to communicate their needs and negotiate for appropriate work environments. Additionally, English Learners already have a disadvantage with it not being their first language and they may not feel confident if these soft skills are not in place.

1. This is important because the number of ELs has increased by 247%. Teachers are not qualified to aid in the beneficial learning of this growing population of learners.
2. Georgia is one of the biggest areas of growing ELs in the classroom. This affects us in all aspects because the standards of learning are the same whether English is their second language or not. If teachers do not have the tools necessary to do this, then the students are not learning to their full potential.
