Ally Condie (example by Mrs. Furniss)

The author I would like to share with you is Ally Condie; she wrote the Internationally best-selling trilogy Matched. I was surprised to see how many more books this author has written. I had never heard of some of her other works that were listed on her website: Summer Lost or Enthralled although Atlantia is definitely a book I have been wanting to read. Many of the books look really amazing! I think this was my biggest surprise I simply wasn't aware she had so many other books. I am going to add them to my Books to Read list.

Another surprise I noticed as I was reading from her official website: http://allycondie.com/ is she tends to write books that include some sort of romance mixed with some dystopian fantasy similar to The Hunger Games or Divergent series. I think many of the girls would enjoy reading her books. Although, I do think there are books that boys would enjoy as well such as her book Freshman for President.

Probably the biggest surprise I found while learning about this author is that she has a writing camp designed just for teens!!! The kids work alongside real authors and it takes place in Utah. I thought this was pretty neat.

One reason I think Ally Condie may have chosen to write the trilogy Matched is because the dystopian novel seems to be pretty popular right now. However, I did notice that the main character, Cassia, loves to run, and on Condie's website, she talks about her love for running. So, I think she must have based her main character's love of running off of herself. I always wondered if author's base any of their character's or stories around their own life.

I am glad I read about her because now I want to see if she has based any other characters or settings off of her own life. I hope you'll check out her books too! Happy Reading!!!

By: Tessa Tonkel

The author that I would like to tell you about is Dave Pelzer and I read one of his books named " A Child Called It." He is one of the world's most effective respected communicators addressing corporate groups. In 1993, Dave was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Americans.

One thing that really surprised me is that he earned a lot of rewards. Such as #1 New York Times Best Selling, and International Best Author, the Recipient of the National Jefferson Award. This was so surprising that he got so many awards.

Another thing that surprised me from her website: http://www.davepelzer.com/about.html , was how child abuse that happened in the book, actually happened in Dave's real life. In the book and on his website, Dave was severely beaten and starved and almost died a couple of times. His mother was very alcoholic. If I was in his position, I would easily give up and I would eventually starve to death. In this book Dave is very brave telling the cops stuff even though if his mom finds out he will be in big trouble!

One reason Dave Pelzer may have chosen to write this book is because he wanted to show what his childhood was like. Another reason is that he wanted to show how severe child abuse can be and how parents brutally abuse their children.

I highly recommend you read the book a " A Child Called It." Dave Pelzer also has books called The Lost Boy, A Man Named Dave, Help Yourself, The Privilege of Youth, Moving Forward, and Too Close To Me. I hope you take my advice and read some of Dave Pelzer's books. Have fun!!!!

He was born in Maryland in 1971 on February 19th.He has wrote the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Third Wheel. This is a passage on page (30). Lately Manny has been blaming things he does on his imaginary friends. The other day he smashed a plate on the floor and then told Mom it was johnny cheddar, who seems to be the troublemaker of the pack. I give this book a five star rating. I would recommend this book to everybody.

By: Emma Gilbert

The author I am learning about is Siobhan Vivian; she wrote the fiction story, The List, which is a New York Times best seller! Siobhan Vivian has written 8 novels, including a trilogy, and when she wrote The list, Sara Shepard, the author of Pretty Little Liars and other books, said that The List was one of the best books that she had read all year!

I was really surprised to see that Siobhan was a trouble maker when she grew up in Rutherford, NJ. She once took a stray dog to school in a stolen shopping cart! I was also surprised to see that Siobhan wrote so many other books that i didn't know about! On Siobhan's website, http://www.siobhanvivian.com/, I found that she wrote things such as, Burn for Burn, Not That Kind of Girl, and The Last Boy and Girl in the World. I looked more into the book The Last Boy and Girl in The World, and I am definitely adding it to my Books to Read list.

I think that Siobhan Vivian wrote The List because when she was in school, she was put down and didn't believe in her abilities. Also, so many people in her school were judged by their prettiness, ugliness, and popularity. Then in the book, it shows the perspective of all the girls on the list, and how they were either put down, built up, and some of them even ignored the list. So, I feel like she wrote it from a bunch of different parts of herself when she was in school.

I would highly recommend Siobhan Vivian's books. I would recommend these because they are drama filled, and always have action, and most times romance, somewhere in the book. Also, she has written so many wonderful sounding novels and I want to read them all! All of her novels are, The List, The Last Boy and Girl in the World, Same Difference, Not That Kind of Girl, A Little Friendly Advice, Burn for Burn, Fire with Fire, and Ashes to ashes. I hope you consider my advice and read some of Siobhan Vivian's novels! Have a great time reading!!!

The reason Rick Riordan quit was because he couldn't spend full time on what he loves writing books. He never told his students that he wrote book and when they found out they were so suprised. I didn't know he made so many books. Rick Riordan made all the Percy Jackson books and he made one of the 39 clues. I guess Rick Riordan really loves making demigod books because all the books he's made except 39 clues have demigods in them. Then he loves making Percy Jackson because he has made 3 series with him in it. If you want to see his official website go to http://rickriordan.com. so go know and start reading his books I would have to give him a 10 out of 10 for being a good author and writing good books.

By: Katie Bolinger
The author I am going to tell you about is J.K. Rowling. She wrote the whole Harry Potter series and a bunch of other books. I was surprised to find out that that she was born in Scotland since her books are very well known in America.
Another thing that surprised me was that the initials J.K. is from her first name Joanne and her grandmothers name Kathleen since she doesn't have a middle name. She was probably really close to her grandmother.
One thing that surprised me the most was that she got the idea of the Harry Potter series on a delayed train traveling from Manchester to London King's Cross. I thought that something big would of happened in her life to make her think of that but she must just have a very big imagination.
I think it is crazy that J.K. Rowling wrote the whole Harry Potter series in just 10 years. Especially since the books are so long and very descriptive with a bunch of imagination. I wonder how she found enough time to do it because she had another job as an English teacher at the time which means that writing probably took up all her free time.
I was surprised that I hadn't heard about almost any of her other books like The Cuckoo's Calling and The Casual Vacancy. She has wrote at least 25 books! I can't wait to add some more to my books to read list.
I found out when I was researching her that she often got bullied as a kid because of her last name, Rowling. People would often make fun of her and call her "Rowling Pin". J.K. Rowling actually has 3 kids of her own, Jessica, Mackenzie, and David who are 24, 12, and 14.
I would recommend any of her books especially the Harry Potter series and encourage others to read them. She is an excellent author and I would rate her books 5 stars!

By: Mekyah Wells
My book is The Last Dogs - The Vanishing written by Christopher Holt. Christopher has written a few books over the past years some of them are Dragon lance, Monster Slayers, and the Last dogs series.

I was scrolling through his professional website when I noticed something unusual. My book says that his name is Christopher Holt, but his website it states that his real name is Jeff Sampson. I didn't even know that you could have a pen name when you publish a book, but I guess you can. Christopher Holt is a way better name than Jeff Sampson I don"t know what it is about it but it sounds more majestic and professional.
When Christopher Holt was growing up he lived on a ranch with more that twenty-seven dogs.

I believe that"s part of the reason that he published a book about dogs. In his website it states that he tried to find a way to incorporate every one of his outstanding dogs into his book series. He knew a lot about dogs because of his life experiences, and he was able to base his book on the knowledge of his encounters with dogs and their behavior. He dedicated this book to his family, friends, and his long lost dogs. Christopher says that his dogs he had growing up helped him customize the characters of the main dogs in the story. He also got lots of help and money from friends and family. One question I would ask him if I could is why are dogs so important in your life? And what did they do for you?

I recommend the Last dogs series because it is a heart warming book with fun events throughout the story. It has so many suspenseful moments, and all together its on thrill seeking adventure with twists and turns that will get you blood pumping. Out if a five star rating I rate this book a five! Hope I have convinced you to read books by this author!

Veronica Roth

By : Sam Bechtold

The author that I want to tell you about is Veronica Roth. She has written all of the Divergent series which I'm in the middle of. She also wrote Shards and Ashes. Divergent has been one of the best books I've ever read.
I thought that it was interesting that Veronica Roth went to Northwestern University for Creative Writing. I thought that this was intriguing because whenever my family takes a trip to Chicago, we stay by the Northwestern Medical School. On her website as well it says that instead of doing her homework she would write Divergent instead.
Another surprise that I found out by reading the descriptions of her books on http://veronicarothbooks.blogspot.com/ is that they are all based in dystopian futures, like the Hunger Games. A thing that they both have in common is that the main character has to part from their family and serve their dictatorship and something was thing special about them. Like how Katniss got a 11 for a training score and how Tris is Divergent.
I think that the author chose
to write this book because she was in Chicago at the time and the cover has a mural of the Chicago skyline. In the book she also has references to Chicago like the "Hub was bright but the ancients before us called it the Sears Tower." Or "Uriah and I were abut to make a plunge into the lake of asphalt below us but we had to jump off our diving board which our ancestors called the Hancock Building."
Once again I highly recommend Divergent along with Insurgent, Allegiant, Four, and her newest book Shards and Ashes. I have all of the Divergent Series on my Books to Read List. I told my sister about Shards and Ashes and she said she would read it because it is a girl centered book. Definitely read this awesome sci-fi thriller! 5 STARS!!

By Justin Titus

I was surprised to find out that all of his stories are nonfiction. I wonder if it is based on his life or if he had seen something like it. He also has more books than just the series he has written three sports novels, five kids books and many legal thrillers. He has translated 42 books. He chose to write this book because he was a lawyer now he dose what he dose.

The author Iwant to tell you about is Jessica Khoury. She has written all kinds of books like The Jinni, Kalahari, The last Witness, and Vitro. Kalahari is one of the best books I have read.
I thought that this was an interesting fact when I was reading her bio that she loves watching, playing, and coaching soccer. She also likes to play video games. I thought that was weird for a writer to play video games. She also wrote he first book when she was 4! Jessica Currently lives in Greenville, South Carolina. She wrote her first novel in 2012; it was a book called Origin.
Jessica wrote the book Kalahari because of her love for animals and adventure. She was inspired by a trip to Africa. When she went she tracked lions, elephants, and leopards. As she went on the trip she hired translator to go along to understand the African people.
