In this piece of artwork, the thing that I feel stands out the most is the bright oranges against the turquoise. These are the main two colors used in this piece and differ but also compliment each other nicely. The bright orange is presented through goldfish all throughout the foreground and background. In the middle ground is where they turquoise props. In the middle ground there are also two children who stand out against the bright turquoise and vibrant orange goldfish.

The people don't seem to be interacting with the goldfish as they get out of bed. In fact, they seem to not be aware of the immense amount of goldfish surrounding them. As stated before, the colors in this piece are complimentary (blue and orange). I feel that the center of interest is the people and their reaction, or lack of reaction, to the goldfish floating around and on the ground of their room.

Interpretation

I think this piece is trying to convey some sort of imaginative thoughts these two people are trying project. But it also seems that these two people are in an aquarium and are being attacked by these goldfish. I think the artist might be trying to convey that these people are lost in thought and may feel a bit trapped within whatever situation they may be in. The lack of many colors in this piece lead me to believe such things. This piece makes me feel curious about what it's supposed to really mean and what the purpose was in putting two people in a room surrounded by goldfish.

Overall, I think this piece is somewhat successful in the message that it's trying to convey because most people would probably also be confused on what this piece is supposed to mean. I feel that the main strength of this piece is that it's super up to interpretation, and I feel that the weakness of this piece is it's lack of differentiating color choices. However, I still enjoy looking at this piece because even thought it lacks some flavor, it's still nice to look at and makes you wonder exactly what is going on in all of it's chaos.
