How are the types of visual art you encounter daily different from one another? How could we categorize the art you found in your daily life?

There were all kinds of different art forms in my everyday encounters, and one could ask how exactly they were curated because they’re so different. However, I think all of my piece were interconnecting in one theme: a day in my life. I photographed beautiful things I ate, stunning architecture I passed on my daily paths, interesting plants and bugs, and wonderful, insightful people! I photographed Amanda Pascali and her husband while they were performing, and alone it was soulful art; Although, I find that people are the most intriguing works of art.

Does the process of looking for art change anything about the way you move or interact with the world? As you recorded what you saw, did your connection to the world change in any way?

The experience of taking these photos and being conscientious of art all around me has expanded the way I view what art is and how we determine its value. For example, I posted a picture of a cactus that I have seen everyday for the last 4 years at UT. The cactus originally had no inherent value to me, until I was actively looking for things to be in awe with. Since the assignment, every time I see this cactus I am compelled to examine it and its wellbeing, the state in which people are allowing it to be. Now I have assigned this cactus some sort of value, which can be compared with how I value other works of art. For instance, the food I posted is also considered art to me, but it’s still food so ultimately no matter how much I value it I’m going to eat the food I prepared. This is sort of how I’m processing how I assign value and meaning to art and in which ways I choose to interact with it.
