Bothem Jean died on September 6th, 2018 around 10 p.m. The police that shot and killed Bothem has been charged with manslaughter, which we do not agree with. She was aware that it was not her apartment and she proceeded with trying to get into "her apartment". There was a red door mat to aware her that this was not her home and when she walked in, it was a common sense that the apartment was filled with furniture that was not hers. Also she took police actions even though she was off duty. The police officer should have been charged with murder. Bothem was minding his business, causing no trouble. She was a carrying a gun and with that takes responsibility and she took it in her hands to pull out the weapon and shoot and kill Bothem. In Dallas, to convict a defendant of a murder charge, the prosecutors must be able to prove that the defendant intentionally and knowingly caused the death of another person.

Bothem Jean was killed on September 6th, 2018. We are conflicted with the charge; we don't think it was premeditated murder, or that she purposefully wanted to murder him, but there was most definitely racial profiling involved in his death. However we think it's bizarre that it never occurred to her that it wasn't her apartment, especially when someone else opened the door and there was a red doormat in front of Bothem's door that was not in front of hers. The officer was obviously had a loose trigger finger as she had also previously shot and killed a man that reached for her taser. In Dallas, to be convicted of murder, the prosecutors have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused intentionally caused the death of another, intentionally endangered another, and/or attempted or committed a felony and while doing so caused the death of the person.

Bothem Jean died September 6th. No I think she should have been charged with murder. I believe it was murder because from witnesses accounts she knocked on the door before shooting. To prove murder the person has to shoot with intent to kill.

Bothem Jean died on September 6, 2018. Yes, we do agree with the charges. We agree because she walked into his apartment that was obviously not hers. Many things indicate that it wasn't hers. A red doormat was present in front of Jeans apartment, when Guyger did not have one. Also there was different furniture and many different things to indicate that the apartment was not hers. She shot and killed him after she was banging on the door yelling to go into the house.

Bothem was killed on September 6th, 2018 around 10 p.m. Although we feel as if this charge was a bit much we do still agree with it. She did cause the death of another person. We both do not agree that she should be charged with murder. When I think of murder I think of someone having the intention of killing someone else. She was also given a 300,000 dollar bond. Her getting charged with the bond and manslaughter at least showed that there was some type of consequence in which she needed. We could not find information on the proof of conviction of murder.

Botham Jean was killed on September 6 in this year 2018 and he was shot around 10 pm. We do agree with this change because with all the evidence that we have right now it shows that she did break in and kill Jean. In Dallas it has to proved that she was acting under the color of the state law, meaning that was she using her police authority, if she wasn't she can be convicted

Bothem Jean died on September 6 , in the hospital after being shot twice. We agree with the charge of manslaughter because the court has no evidence that she did this out of spite , or that it was premeditated.Even though we do not agree with the charge of a murder, Dallas law states that if a person "intentionally or knowingly causes the death of an individual" and "intends to cause serious bodily injury and commits an act clearly dangerous to human life." Therefor, the charge for Amber Guyger should be charged with murder.

We are kind of half and half with her being charged because there is no evidence proving that she did it out of spite and the other half is that she probably knew that wasn't house.

Indiya- i believe that this story theres something deeper then this that nobody is telling us. How do you go into the wrong apartment and enter with a key that doesnt belong to that apartment..and fruniture is moved diffrently in apartments how could she not realize this . Also why did she not turn the light on to look around at her surroundings..

September 6, 2018 was the day that Bothem Jean was murdered by an officer, in the "comfort" of his own home. I sort of kind of agree with the manslaughter charge that was pressed on Guyger. I do believe she should have gotten charged with murder because mistaking someone else's home for your own is not something people do on a regular basis. Maybe her intentions were not to kill Jean, but I do think this situation was not an accident when it is all said and done.
