mongst the special holidays in my country, Tet is my favorite one. Tet is an occasion for everyone to get together in a warm and exciting atmosphere. Before Tet, everyone prepares many things like plants or foods and decorates their house. I plant a lot of beautiful flowers in front of my house and buy clothes, foods in preparation for Tet. Besides, most of the streets also are beautifully decorated with colorful lights and flowers. During Tet, I spend much time on visiting my relatives, friends and colleagues, especially on the first 3 days. I give them sincere wishes for the new year. Tet is also a period when children can receive lucky money. There is a funny thing that people try to avoid argument or saying any bad things throughout Tet, which makes Tet’s atmosphere like heaven to me. I love Tet!

Of all the big holidays that occur in Vietnam every year, I would like to share with you the most anticipated traditional festive week which is called Tet holiday.

You know, it is a very important traditional holiday for all Vietnamese people which often takes place from the end of January till the end of February every year. However, the exact dates for Tet are different every year as in our tradition we use the Lunar calendar to count the first day or the Lunar Year. I mean people will use the movement of the Moon around the Earth to count the dates, not that of the Earth around the Sun. Fortunately, this period of the year is also in the spring season so the weather is good enough for the festival and for people to take part in some fun activities as well.

Regarding the reason why we celebrate this festival is that it marks when the old and the unlucky Lunar Year finishes and when the New Lunar Year starts. Another reason is because after a year of hard work that keeps us always on our toes, we deserve a long repose which helps us to recharge the energy for the upcoming year. Moreover, since Vietnamese never stop placing the family’s value on top priority, Tet is the occasion for us to gather, to show love and affection as well as to keep each other updated.

One week before the festival, what we habitually do is a thorough spring cleaning, saying we freshen up the whole living place, throw away some old, expired or used stuff and buy some new ones. But the most important thing to do is to carefully, wholeheartedly clean and decorate our ancestor’s altar which is the spiritual symbol of the holiday. During the festival, the first thing we will do is to visit our friends and relatives’ houses where we will feed on big, delicious meals with some special delicacies like square sticky rice cake, cylindrical sticky rice cake, pickled leeks, braised pork and eggs. After the meals we often spend the rest of the visit playing cards, chit chatting and exchanging lucky money, lucky wishes. In addition, we will also visit pagodas in order to pray for a year of luck. But on top of that, we are interested in strolling around the city center in gorgeous clothes for some stylish photos which will be published on our Facebook or Instagram.

There are several reasons why I really consider this festival a part of my most annually expected events besides my birthday. First and foremost, after a long time of intense schedule which seems to wear me out, it is a chance when I can get together with my family and friends to catch up with their life’s stories. To be honest, hearing my family sharing their thoughts and wishes makes me feel so warm and proud inside. Second, it is also an opportunity for me to get dressed up in fancy clothes and parade along the streets. Everytime I come out to the main big square of the city during the holiday, I imagine I was in a giant fashion show with all the sexy vedettes around including me. Third, since it is a long holiday, I can wisely make use of the time by visiting pagodas. As a habit, my mom and I always go to our favorite pagoda right after New Year’s Eve and pray for a year of fortune, success and peace.

So, those are the reasons why I am so delighted to share with you what I know about Tet holiday. I really wish such a meaningful holiday like Tet will soon arrive with loads of luck, love and happiness.

Tet, also known as Lunar New Year festival, is one of the biggest traditional festivals in Viet Nam. Tet usually starts at the end of January and ends in early February. However, it often takes Vietnamese people a week to prepare beforehand. They clean their house and decorate it with flowers and trees such as a kumquat tree or peach blossom. A huge amount of food ingredients will be bought before Tet to make traditional dishes. Banh Chung, Gio cha, Banh Tet, Xoi Mut,… and candies are the foods that could be easily seen on Tet holidays. During the 3 main days of Tet, people visit their relatives’ houses and give them wishes. However, Vietnamese people believe that the first visitor a family welcomes in the year may affect their fortune for the entire year. Therefore, people never enter any houses on the first day of Lunar New Year without being invited first. Another traditional custom is giving lucky money, which is put into a red envelope as a symbol of luck and wish for a new age, to children and the elders. Besides, after the first 3 days, Vietnamese usually go to pagodas or temples to pray for wealth, health, success,… To Vietnamese, Tet is the happiest period of the year round because members in a family can gather and celebrate Tet together. Generally, Tet is all about going back home, being nice to others, enjoying the precious moment, and wishing for the best things to come.

Perhaps the days leading up to Tet are joy for everyone, especially me. Tet holidays are something that everyone looks forward to more than ever. Tet in my hometown is really meaningful and memorable to start a new year.

Spring comes and Tet comes to every home, there is nothing more joyful and happy than this. Children look forward to Tet more than adults. During Tet, my whole family buys things for the new year, so it costs a lot of money. But children like me don't care about that, because Tet is an opportunity for us to have new clothes, receive lucky money, gifts that we can't finish, and not have to study. Maybe that's something every child enjoys. Everyone is eager and hardworking, no one is jealous of anyone else, everyone works enthusiastically and enthusiastically. The kids were so excited, they kept asking for their parents' share to do it, but after a while they got bored and left to go play. The national flags are hung high on the bright red tiled roof, fluttering in the sky, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere. Perhaps spring makes the atmosphere of every home warm and peaceful. Even though the weather is still cold and expensive, everyone's smiles are always on their faces. On Tet, children eagerly wake up early to go play, celebrate the New Year, and have fun. Every child looks for a shirt with big and spacious pockets to hold candy and lucky money. That's also what I look forward to during the Tet holidays. END

Tet holiday is considered the best occasion in Vietnam.

Hannah 5a1

Tet holiday is the national festival in Vietnam. Tet is most important national occasion festival in Vietnam. This is also an opportunity to pray for a peaceful new year and have a rest after a long busy year. It is an occasion for family reunion. There are many traditional and meaningful activities taking place at Tet like: countdown, watching fireworks, eating traditional Lunar new year specialities, etc. During Tet holiday, Vietnamese people spend most of the time shopping for the New Year such as ao dai, we also go to temples and pagodas for luck. The people usually watch the beautiful, colorful fireworks at about 12 o'clock. Let's wait for the countdown and wait for waiting Tao Quan. And we will enjoy the big noise "BOOM" of the fireworks for countdown. -VICTOR 5C2-

Vietnamese people believe that Tet marks the beginning of a new year, a day of hope and belief in new and good things, and a farewell to the old.

From the 23rd to the 30th day of the last month of the lunar year, family members get together to visit the graves of ancestors, inviting them to celebrate Tet with the family.

In addition to two types of flowers typical for Tet - cherry blossoms and apricot blossoms - Vietnamese people also buy other flowers for worshipping rituals and decoration. Worshiping flowers include marigolds, chrysanthemums, gladioli, and lilies, while those for decoration include roses, dahlias, and violets.

As life is getting better, Tet food is not as important as it once was. Although “banh chung” (a square glutinous rice cake) is no longer a special Tet dish, many families still continue the tradition of making banh chung to give Tet a better atmosphere.

On the afternoon of the last day of the lunar year, after completing all of the work around the home, the family prepares a tray of dishes for offering to the ancestors and grandparents, called the “year-end” tray. It requires a lot of work to cook the different dishes, which include soup, stir-fried vegetables, and meat, especially chicken.

Along with “banh chung” and “cau doi” (or calligraphic couplets), a tray of five fruits is an indispensable item on the altar of every family during Tet. Not only does it make the home feel cosy, but the five-fruit tray is also for passing on best wishes.

The act of being the first person to enter a home on the first day of Tet is called “xông đất”. It is believed that the person who enters first will affect the life of the homeowner for the whole year to come. The age of the person is also quite important.

In the first days of the new year, people visit family and friends. Adults give “lucky money” to children and the elderly, and wish for a prosperous and lucky year.

People also practice the custom of visiting pagodas to pray for good fortune. Some buy salt because of the saying: “Buy salt at the beginning of the year, buy lime at the end of the year”. Students often begin a new year writing in the early spring, for a new year of study and successful exams.

Each ethnic group or country has its own customs and practices. Tet in Vietnam is a significant and unique cultural event that has been passed down for centuries. Through the ups and downs of history, many customs have more or less fallen into oblivion or been significantly changed. But no matter where they are, Vietnamese people are always aware of their roots and practice traditional customs.

Tet Holiday, which is also known as Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam.

It usually occurs at the end of January and lasts for 3 days. Tet holiday in Vietnam is usually in honor of the departure of the previous year and an occasion to welcome the new year with many blessings. On Tet holiday, we will have family unions to catch up with each other. Besides, some families enjoy this festival by preparing traditional food such as Vietnamese square cake, dried candied fruit, braised pork and eggs, etc. and decorating the house with parallel sentences and peach or apricot blossoms.

Especially, for children, I think they look forward to Tet holiday because they can receive lucky money from adults as a way to give them wishes for the new year. For adults, it is an occasion on which they are able to do the spring cleaning and make appetizing food to worship the ancestors.

I would say in this days and age, Tet has lost its original spirit and most adults treat it as a normal holiday in which they can have 2 weeks off to blow off some steam and release stress. However, to me, Tet holiday is still a distinct festival of Vietnam.

Whenever this holiday comes, I feel a strong sense of belonging because it reminds me of how diverse our culture can be with different rituals and food. Moreover, I think if Tet holiday didn’t exist, many family members would drift apart due to the hustle and bustle of life. However, since we have Tet, everyone will have at least one or two days to have family gatherings and tighten the bonds with other members.

So I guess that’s all I want to share about Tet in Vietnam.

Tet holiday is the most important holiday in Vietnam. They celebrate in many countries. Tet is has many traditional foods. First, Banh Chung is a food that they make from glutinous rice, mung bean, and pork, added with many other ingredients. It is covered by green leaves and symbolizes the Earth, invented by prince Lang Lieu from the Hung King dynasty. Banh Chung is the main food for the Tet holiday because it can last for long days in Vietnamese weather. And families usually store Banh Chung at room temperature for nearly 1 month. Next,Xoi is also a very important part of the Tet holiday in Vietnam. Along with Banh Chung, Xoi is the main staple food for the Tết holiday. It has many forms: Xoi Lac (sticky rice with peanuts), Xoi Đo Xanh (sticky rice with mung bean), Xoi Gac (sticky rice with special “gac” fruit). Among these types, xôi gấc is the favorite the most people because of its special red color – which symbolizes luck and new achievement for the New Year. Finally,Mut Tet (Tet Sugar-coated fruit) is not a food to serve in a meal during the Tet holiday. It’s more like a snack to welcome guests in this special period. This once-in-year mix of snacks is very large in variety, with so many tastes: ginger, carrot, coconut, pineapple, pumpkin, lotus seed, star fruit, etc.The first day of the Tet holiday is for the nuclear family. Children receive a red envelope containing money from their elders. This tradition is called “mung tuoi” (happy new age) in the north and lì xì in the south. Usually, children wear their new clothes and give their elders the traditional Tết greetings before receiving the money.

Tet is a fascinating national holiday in my country. It often takes from one to two weeks. In the first week, we spend most of the time to clean up and decorate our houses, go shopping to buy ornament trees, Ao Dai - one of our traditional dress and food ingredients to cook traditional dishes. We have got a day named Kitchen Gods Day to celebreate because we believe that those Gods go to the Heaven to report all things happened in my house last lunar year for Ngoc Hoang - the highest God on the Heaven. In the second week, we celebrate three first days of a lunar new year by lighting up the fireworks, cooking Chung cake - one of our traditional food that I just love when it is fried and watching lion-dances. There are many traditions that people practice in the lunar new year like visiting the relatives, sending best wishes to them and getting lucky money. Tet is the greatest time that I can play games and relax. I wish Tet never ends.

Before Tet several weeks, people clean their house and repaint it. Moreover, they use peach, apricot blossoms and kumquat tree to decorate their house. My mother and I go to the flower market to buy peach blossoms. They also prepare many traditional food, such as: Chung cake, jelly meat,... At Tet, people always watch colorful fireworks or lion dance, visiting relatives, etc. Children receive lucky money from their relatives and parents on Tet holiday. I really love this period of time.

Tet, also known as Vietnamese Lunar New Year, is an important and vibrant celebration in Vietnam. The picture depicting Tet in Vietnam is filled with fascinating adjectives that capture the essence of this festive occasion and reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Vietnamese people.

To begin with, the image radiates an atmosphere of joyousness and merriment. Vibrant and colorful decorations adorn the streets and households, filling the scene with a sense of liveliness and cheerfulness. The lively red and gold ornaments symbolize luck, prosperity, and good fortune, while the vibrant flowers such as peach blossoms and chrysanthemums add a touch of natural beauty and elegance.

The picture also showcases an air of reverence and tradition that characterizes Tet in Vietnam. Families pay homage to their ancestors by setting up altars and offering incense, fruits, and traditional dishes. The presence of these ancestral altars signifies the importance of filial piety and shows deep respect for the family’s heritage.

Moreover, the image depicts people dressed in traditional costumes, enveloped in elegance and grace. The intricate design, vibrant colors, and sparkling details of the traditional áo dài dresses worn by women exude a sense of sophistication and timeless beauty. Men, on the other hand, don the áo gấm, a traditional silk brocade garment, which adds an element of refinement to the atmosphere.

Additionally, the picture showcases an assortment of delectable traditional dishes, bursting with flavors and aromas. The mouthwatering bánh chưng, a sticky rice cake filled with mung beans and pork, is wrapped in banana leaves, reflecting the authenticity and uniqueness of Vietnamese cuisine. The tantalizing smell of bánh tét, another traditional cake made from glutinous rice and filled with beans or meat, wafts through the air, stimulating the senses.

A spirit of togetherness and unity is also evident in the image, as families and friends gather for festive meals and engage in various traditional activities. The scene of people playing games and exchanging gifts represents the warmth and tight-knit nature of Vietnamese society. The lively sound of laughter and cheerful conversations further accentuate the joyful ambiance.

Lastly, the picture highlights the idea of renewal and hope for a prosperous future. Vietnamese people take part in the tradition of releasing songbirds, symbolizing freedom and new beginnings. It represents the belief that these birds carry away the old year's bad luck, making room for new opportunities and auspicious beginnings.

In conclusion, the picture showcasing Tết in Vietnam offers a glimpse into this vibrant celebration filled with interesting adjectives. From the colorful decorations and elegant traditional costumes to the delectable dishes and joyous atmosphere, Tết truly represents a blend of adjectives that encompass the essence of Vietnamese cultural heritage and the hopes for a prosperous and bright new year.

The Lunar New Year, or in other words, Tet is one of the most important and special holidays in Vietnam. Tet normally occurs on the first days of the new year. It is the time when most people can relax, reunite with their families, and don't go to work to spend time with family and friends. During Tet, the streets are crowded with people having a fun time after a long year of hard work. Children often receive lucky money, which is my favorite part as a kid. People usually clean their houses to get rid of those bad fortunes from last year. You must avoid entering a house on the first day of Tet if you are not invited. It would be best if you also avoided at all costs wearing dark or white clothes because it reminds others of funerals. People wear a unique type of clothing called "Ao Dai.".You should go for those that are red. When you are a guest, steer clear of talking about negative topics. Shopping is very common here. People go to shops and malls to buy decorations, food, and clothing. My favorite place to go is the legendary Ho Hoan Kiem Lake because of the fascinating view there. In addition, Tet is a very enjoyable celebration for family reunions.

Tet, also known as Luna New Year festival, is one of the most important and the biggest traditional festivals in Vietnam. Tet usually starts at the end of January and ends in the early February. Tet has 3 main days, however, Vietnamese people often spend a week preparing beforehand. They clean their houses and decorate them with beautiful red decorations or flowers and trees. A huge amount of food ingredients will be bought before Tet to make traditional dishes. Banh Chung, Gio cha, Banh Tet, Xoi Mut,… and candies are the foods that could be easily seen on Tet holidays. During the 3 main days of Tet, people visit their relatives’ houses and give them the best wứihes. Children are very happy when they receive lucky money. Besides, after the first 3 days, Vietnamese usually go to pagodas or temples to pray for wealth, health, success,… To Vietnamese, Tet is the happiest period of the year round because members in a family can gather and celebrate Tet together. The most joyful activity is watching fireworks. The fireworks are colorful and beautiful. Generally, Tet is all about going back home, being nice to others, enjoying the precious moment, and wishing for the best things to come.

It's the time when families gather together and receive lucky money from each other, either we can receive lucky money from our neighbors or friends. We can also visit our far-away grandparents to meet them and grant their wishes to meet their grandchild for a long time. We used to make Banh Chung for Tet. Banh Chung is a very juicy dish that is mostly made in Vietnam, which means it is also the main dish in Tet. Sometimes, Tet is also a disaster for cleaning all of our money to decorate our house too. But for the opposite Tet is a fun holiday!!
