Hello! I'm from México. I teach English in a public high-school. My students are around 15-19. I don't have migrant students.

The problem here is that the students do not want to speak English even though they have taken English classes for the past 3 years, at least.

Many factors (methods, approaches, not well structured classes, teachers' performance, etc.) can be responsible of students' lack of interest, lack of motivation, dislike, fear to fail in the performance, etc.

So that is why I'm interested in learning how to tackle this problem and change the way I perform in the classroom to engage students' and make them feel learning English is fun and useful.

Hope to learn how to apply these new tools to my classes to add variety to the activities I offer to my students.

My pupils will attend the third class next September.
In my class there are some students with migrant family background and some of them don’t speak italian with their parents.

To motivate children to study English I was used to let my pupils learn through games or songs.
Actually in the last two years it wasn’t allowed to sing or work in groups, therefore I often chose Storytelling to present new vocabulary and activities.

I am a special ed. teacher (upper secondary school teacher). During this year (2021-2022), I taught at Istituto Moreschi (Milan). The students of my class, II*(Administration, Finance and marketing) were 22 (15 males and 7 females), 5 students with special education needs. Among these students, two females presented disabilities, one student presented specific learning disorders, one student presented linguistic difficulties and one student presented behavioural and emotional disorders. The students who spoke italian as a second language in my class were 10, 5 males and 5 females. They came from different geographical and social and backgrounds (China, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Egypt, Spain, Albania, Ukraine, Philippines). All these students attended all their previous schools in Italy, speaking and studying Italian. At school they also studied English and Spanish. A lot of languages!!
In my opinion, nowadays, pluringualism must be promoted as a wonderfoul gift. I really hope to support my students' linguistic and intercultural competence, trying to create an inclusive "climate" with the right tools.

Hi, I am a qualified foreign language teacher working in a public comprehensive school in Rio Maior, Portugal. I teach English and German at secondary level.
As many Rio Maior based companies employ immigrants, I would say that I work in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment. Our students have different backgrounds, such as Brazil, Angola, China, India, Pakistan, and Eastern countries (e.g., Russia, Ukraine, Romania). Some of them have already learnt Portuguese and others speak English. Only a small number speak neither, except for their native language.
Personally, I still struggle with multi-level classes, although I have been experiencing that I.C.T. can be a huge help in tackling this challenge.

I think a language cannot be a barrier to communication. Learning different languages is a way to widen our perspective about other cultures and build that sense of world citinzenship we all need these times. During last two years, in my school, IC Vivaldi CZ, I’ve had the big chance to work on an international project about multilingualism which is called “Healthy Linguistic Diet”. Hello everyone I'm Marisa Badini. I was Headmaster Deputy and teacher of English in Primary school as a specialist at Ottavo Circolo Piacenza, working with students from different cultural backgrounds. Our school priority was, and is, INCLUSION. I took part in a Comenius partnership, was tutor of a Comenius Assistant, coordinated a KA1 and 3 KA2 Erasmus+ projects, supported by eTwinning projects and contributed to Erasmus Accreditation Plan 2021/2027. Our prior aim is to foster the European citizenship through bilingual education, cultural heritage, inniovative and outdoor learning paths, enhancing CLIL approach as a powerful mean of international collaboration. I think that eTwinning projects are the perfect framework to enhance "Union in Diversity", integrating the cultural and linguistic aspects, opeming to multilingualism.

I fostered the development of our school as eTwinning School. In 2019/2020 with a colleague I took part in the " eTwinning School Monitoring and Development activitiy", (managed by the eTwinning CSS in Brussels) with other 5 European schools, representing my school and Country, to promote the eTwinning school Mission. I attended the "Corso di approfondimento : Discipline e Lingue integrate in approccio CLIL" at IUL, University online and many onsite and online CLIL trainings, also coordinating some of them.

I'm now a CLIL expert and supporter, Erasmus School Ambassador and trainer for European Professional Development. I 'm attending this course to Know and compare innovative approches for a continuous improvement of intercultural actions.

Hi! I'm Paula. I am an elementary English teacher. I teach 3rd and 4th graders (8 to 10 years old) in a group of schools in Valbom, Gondomar in the north of Portugal.
My students are mainly Portuguese but we also have some from Angola, Brazil, Venezuela and lately we received some from Ukraine. They are not may, but they mean a lot!
Most of these students speak Portuguese, but now with the Ukrainian students things are getting different.

When introducing a new topic, for example, I usually use a multimodal approach with a variety of tools in order to make it as easy as possible for all students to understand.

Hi, my name’s Patrizia Natalini, I work as a Primary School teacher in a small Town in the middle of Italy. I’ve been teaching since 1997 and currently I’m teaching 8 year-old-children. I signed up for this course because my students are from different backgrounds and I think integration is the key to reach each of them and, furthermore, I would like to learn some new strategies and get new ideas from interaction with other teachers. My students don’t use English on a daily basis, they use Italian when they are at school or their mother tongue language with their own family. Hello!I'm Lucia, from a small town in the south of Italy. I’ve been teaching for 13 years. In the past I was a support teacher at low secondary school, but now I teach English. My students aged 10-14. My school is an Istituto Comprensivo and it has got more than 1200 students. In the last few years it has opened itself to a European dimension of teaching/learning process by participating in the Erasmus+ calls. The Turkish student is perfect in English and it isn't hard to work with her, but the Chinese one doesn't know English at all.
