First, we learned that not all families stay together. Most of them are separated into different camps in different states. The relocation center, Heart Mountain, was opened on August 12, 1942. It was closed after 3 years, on November 10, 1945. It was very close to Cody, WY. The highest population of the internment camp was 10, 767 people. We surprised that so many people were that taken away! People had to stay in tiny apartments with only blankets or towels for privacy. We also learned that they ate potatoes, and rice was slowly added to the picture. The food was also badly burnt or rotten. The Japanese people in the camps suffered greatly, because the government thought that  the citizens were spies.
