He was born on 19 January 1813 and died 15 March 1898. He was an English inventor, which steel would become the most important technique for making steel in the nineteenth century. He also played a significant role in establishing the town of  Sheffield as a major industrial centre. Henry Bessemer worked on the problem of manufacturing cheap steel for ordnance production from 1850 to 1855 when he patented his method. Bessemer was a prolific and held at least 19 patents, spanning from 1838 to 1883.

He was born July 9, 1819 and died October 3,1867. He was an American inventor best known for his creation of the modern lock stitch sewing machine. Howe spent his childhood and early adult years in Massachusetts. Howe died at age 48 of gout and a massive blood clot. He was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.

He was an American businessman and the first American to successfully drill for oil. He sent the early parts of his life working the railways around New Haven, Connecticut as a clerk, express agent and a conductor. He was the first person in the United States to refine crude oil into lamp oil. Drake is famous for pioneering a new method for producing oil from the ground. Within a day of Drakes striking oil, Drakes methods were being imitated by others along Oil Creek and in the immediate area.

He was an American engineer and inventor who is widely credited with developing a commercially successful steamboat. Fulton is also credited with inventing some of the world's earliest naval torpedoes for use by the British Royal Navy. Fulton became interested in steam engines and the idea of steamboats in 1777 when he was around age 12. Robert Fulton was born on a farm in Little Britain, Pennsylvania, on November 14, 1765. Fulton proposed plans for steam-powered vessels to both the United States and British governments.

He was an American entrepreneur and engineer. He invented the railway air brake and was a pioneer of the electrical industry, gaining his first patent at the age of 19. Westinghouse remained a captain of American industry until 1907, when a financial panic led to his resignation from control of the Westinghouse company. George Westinghouse died on March 12, 1914, in New York City at age 67. As a Civil War veteran, he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery, along with his  wife Marguerite, who survived him by three months.
