Ballad of the Green Berets - [HD] - - - SSGT Barry SADLER

The song talks about how a solider should get his green beret for a heroic act in the war and only three people in a war get a green beret. I feel like this song is a pro war song because SSGT Barry Sadler is saying that people do heroic acts by going in the army and having a chance to get a green beret for fighting in the war. I think the tone makes it feel a bit more heroic and makes me feel where I would want to join and fight for the army and keep this land the home of the free.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5WJJVSE_BE

How To Tell A true War Story

The reason why I choose this chapter is because of the way he has to tell a war story without sounding crazy or insane by making up little lies and the use of fake names. The most interesting thing in the story is that Rat Kiley has lost his best friend Curt Lemon due to a 105 round booby trap and Rat Kiley took his anger and sadness on a baby water buffalo in a deserted village. The reason why he took a water buffalo and shot the buffalo many time and didn't put the water buffalo out of misery is because he wanted to take his anger out for losing his best friend in the platoon in the war and needed to do it, but he never put the water buffalo out of misery and his platoon members had to dump the water buffalo down the well to put it out of its misery. They also tell you that you have a lot of time to think n the war if your lucky, but some people didn't get to think or do what they wanted to do after the war. I think that the reason why he put this chapter in this story is to tell on how bad war can really be, by losing friend, yourself in combat and mainly the people that you are very close to each other in combat. He also tells on how gruesome and bloody war can be at time and how sad you can get by losing your friend by traps, enemy fire or even the terrain itself.

War Picture Propoganda

The first thing that stands out to me in the picture is the soldiers who are injured in the head. The only thing that was said in the picture is "The War Goes On" and I think this is saying the the war is going on and many men are getting injured in the war. The photo would have to be taken in Vietnam with two army soldiers who have head injuries during February- 11-1966 and I think that the editors of the magazine wanted to show what war is like, I think they also showed this picture is to make people not want to fight for some country's freedom and skip the draft.
Link

Vietnam War Article

From what I understand in the this article I read is that they are and against war and that reason is that in war many people die fighting for a country, But also the people who fight for that country and die fighting will help that country or Vietnam protected from the communists. They also talk a lot about the aftermath of the Vietnam war where a thousands of people died fighting for the south part of Vietnam. the article also talks about on how the north and south side of Vietnam learned a lesson from the war by going head to head for years and the war made them a poorer country. They also talk about how empathic we are to the Vietnamese because they saw foreign people as invaders and tried to attack them to get rid of the "invaders." The author also talked about on seeing the protesters more than just "spoiled American Kids" and to see them as a group of deserters. People who dislike or disliked the war should resist the protesting all over the U.S.A and just go on with their day and doing the protests is doing something stupid and realized someday war is going to happen and their kids may have to go to war. The final thing is that Americans an't see how the war benefited South Vietnam then they should do a checklist on what war is going to do.
Link
