Everyone has heard about the Argentine tango. it is a musical genre and accompanying social dance that originated at the end of the 19th century in Buenos Aires. the lyrics for this genre of dance surround the ideas of nostalgia, sadness, and lost love. the dance is known for its intimate movements, it involves two dancers embracing closely, intricate footwork and a fluid, improvisational style where they guide each other through movement and connection

The origins of tango are unclear because very little historical documentation from that era exists. all we know is that it was most likely developed in the late 1900s in working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, and was practiced by Argentine dancers, musicians, and immigrant laborers. the culture of Argentine tango was later blended with other cultures such as African, indigenous, and especially European cultures

This is a place that includes lots of interesting cultural mixtures, such as different types of architecture are included here, classical operas and steak houses are most often seen. Argentinians have a nightlife daily that must include some interesting views with great night views. Parks and rivers are also good recommendations people could visit as well. This is a unique culture because the capital doesn’t really contain the most Argentine culture it, it includes more pop culture that young people would like to see, and the more original cultures would be seen in rural places.

The tango dance, origin isn’t in Argentina but because the people in Argentina love to dance this type of dance, it became one of their culture as well. Most people will dance the folk dance where people dance in a Chacarera way, this is the type of tango that people would do when they want to express their joyful mood, it only requires people to click the other person’s fingers instead of holding hands or arms, then stay with eye contact, the other person will do the same, try to stay in the same tempo and the dance is finished. This is an endangered culture for Argentina because folk dances are really unknown to other people, and people only dance them when they want to express their happy vibe with another person, but options other sides the Chacarera way could be more entertaining and good viewing, therefore this culture of people dancing the folk tangos might disappear.

After a long period of time battling, in 1974, the war stopped, and until 2010, the national day of Argentina was set. This is a unique culture for people to celebrate their they of liberty, and the fact that people go on parados and shoot fireworks as their victory every year in Argentina, the joyfulness and celebration vibes don’t fit with what happened back in history, they don’t include condolence meetings.

Maundy Thursday is a public holiday that people celebrate with their families and friends, the purpose of this celebration is to appreciate the time people can send their love. The original story came from the bible. When Jesus and his disciples entered Jerusalem, he knew that he was going to get betrayed by Judas (one of his disciples), he ate his last supper with all of them and gave love and care to each of them, the action showed forgiveness and caring to the people he loved. In Argentina, people want to thank Jesus for his sacrifice, therefore they celebrate the Maundy Thursday each year. This is a unique culture for all of the people in the country to celebrate a particular religion together as a whole, this also shows how the holiday people should do, relax and spend time with each other, therefore this culture would last longer than people expect due to modern lifestyle.

The American way is when using a knife, switch your fork to the left hand and use the knife with your right hand, but when you won't use your knife, place it on top of the plate and change the fork from your left hand to the right hand and continue. the continental way is to always use your fork with your left hand and use the knife with the right hand without changing or switching its position. People think that this action is being polite to other people when dining, this is a unique culture where people are trained to eat properly in public, this could be a respectful action for Argentinas, and in comparison, Asian people don’t really care how or what people use to eat food, and because of this, people that still continue this manner is very unique in modern days.

Using a toothpick in public is considered a very disrespectful action in public places, this is caused by other’s perspectives towards your behavior, opening your mouth and picking food while waiting or listening to other people may let them feel irrespective or may get uncomfortable by your actions. In Argentina especially, people dislike eating in public places, they only prefer eating in restaurants or at home, therefore when people use toothpicks in public, it makes people feel very uncomfortable. This is a unique culture because, in other places, people would often think that using a toothpick is already better than using their own hands to deal with food, so they wouldn’t feel unrespected by this. Here is an article for you to learn more about how people’s perspectives land when people use toothpicks in public places. (not only in Argentina)

While Argentinians are used to eating very late, they also prefer not to eat in public spaces, for them, it is very important manner for everyone to notice that they should be eating in restaurants instead of public places, a restaurant contains space for people to eat and to share, and it should be the only place where people eat other than people’s home. This is a very unique culture, in comparison to Japan, they pursue convenience and speed as they have a quick speed of living style, Argentina goes on with a night living mood, they would take their time eating in restaurants, therefore eating in public places became a more unrespectful way of lifestyle.

Here is the ppt

In Argentina, gift giving is a very normal action to do, people give gifts to each other when visiting their home, going to a party or just meeting each other, but there are also some etiquette people prefer you to follow, for example, they prefer less expensive gifts because if the gift is expensive, people would think you are bragging. Another example would be, when you go to another person’s house, giving them wine, flowers, chocolates or even tarts would make them feel good because they often share gifts they receive with other guests in their home, therefore it would be an action they appreciate a lot. This is a unique culture because the action of gift-giving became a more polite action than appreciating other people. This is a culture that would last long because this makes people feel comfortable and this also became one of their manners.

This is a very unique culture they have, these types of traditions might make other people feel uncomfortable, but in Argentina, this is a way to show respect to other people, and the way they give each other kisses doesn’t affect people’s actions, therefore this culture might not disappear since this has become one of their daily habits.

People in Argentina really like to eat meat, in other words, they don’t really serve vegetables, therefore people that grow up in Argentina will be used to using to barbeque parties with family and friends, people will serve lots of meat to each other and enjoy their conversation with each other, this is one of the most known cultures in Argentina. This is very unique because Argentinians are used to barbequing with each other, different from Taiwanese, we only barbeque when it is a mid-autumn festival and this way of celebration didn’t come from the beginning, it was all because of a barbeque sauce commercial, therefore with Argentinians that are used to barbeque parties is considered as an unique culture. In the link, we can see that Messie from Argentina has mentioned in his biography that his favorite food includes barbeque.

Mates are drinks that contain lots of caffeine as tea, Argentians take them all around with them, and they drink everywhere and at any time, it is very unique that they share the same straw, no matter who that other person is, your family, your friends, people you just met or even someone you don’t even know, Argentinians just share their mate with other people. This culture is very unique because most people in other places wouldn’t take a drink as a tradition that they already got used to, this means that sharing mates with other people has already become a manner in that country, and other countries where they don’t have this culture would first feel unique but after some adaptation, they would also get used to this, and the video could show it.

According to the book Fairies, “Argentina has 85% of readers (reading includes paper and magazines as well as books and e-books), and 56% of the population reads at least one book per year.” Argentinians really love to read books, as the second largest customers in South American places, they read a large amount of books each year. Reading has become one of their entertainment in the past few years, this has become an endangered culture because the internet is very convenient for readers who want to explore new books to read, it also allows people to read them online without paying any money, therefore reading physical books could be one of the big changes to Argentina in the future.

Luison the werewolf is one of the 7 legendary beasts of Argentina, he is the 7th and last son of Tau ( the Argentinian devil) and Kerana ( a butterfly). the myth says that in a family with 7 boys, the last-born child will become Luison. the myth says that Luison was the 7th child of Tau and Kerana, which meant he was the most accursed, he first appeared to be a giant dog and was extremely ugly, and even horrendous looking. Luison is said to be the lord of the night and the grim reaper of Europe and was associated with death, as the places he could appear in are limited exclusively to cemeteries, burial grounds, or other locations that are tightly tied with death. his source of food was dead and rotting flesh. the myth states that if Luison passes between a person's legs, that person turns into Luison. when European immigrants heard of the story, they added that if a person was bitten by Luison, he or she would turn into a half-man, half-dog creature, which is a werewolf.

An architecture style that features the Argentina culture, From 1880 to 1920, the capital Buenos Aires was the most richest and famous city, the people wanted to create a dream city for a new century, and the major architecture style was the Neoclassical. Neoclassical architecture is similar to the Greek and Roman temples, white clear walls, long pillars, a bit of French windows, gigantic entrances, etc, this type of architecture is most often as schools, banks, hospitals, or even public buildings. For example; the Metropolitan Cathedral in Plaza de Mayo is a church that used to be for the Catholics, but now it is considered a museum for personal exhibition usage. This is a unique culture in Argentina because these types of buildings are protected well and are full of old-century type of architectural vibes. It is very unusual for the country to own and create lots of architecture that does not region in it, but it is considered as an Argentina culture now for it’s amount of buildings.

From 2:18 to 2:36 is the architecture

Art Nouveau, known as the hallmark style of architecture in the 20th-century TV show comedy, most hallmark style would include old fashion taste, feminine elements, and classical decorations. For example, in the Yacht Club Argentino near the northern dock, the architecture implies lots of European windows with circle shapes on top of each, in the 20th century there were lots of designs such as this, and the building also has half sheds in the surrounding of the second floor, on the first floor, there would be outer space and arcades for walking, this is also very similar to the 20th store designs. This type of architecture is endangered in Argentina because this isn’t their own culture, the uniqueness and specificity of this style aren’t as outputting as in the old times, meanwhile, when Americans also had better saves of this type of architecture, Argentina type of buildings would be much unlikely to save in a long time.

Here are some extra information about the Abasto Shopping Center

Art Deco, a type of architecture that was most popular from 1925 to 1940, the most outstanding design of this architecture is its black fences with delicate designs of its shape, the building itself would have simple white bricks, stringed oil lamps, long thin black entrances, lots of thin windows that are invisible, and most of all, exquisite stone cravings. An example would be the Abasto Shopping Center in Buenos Aires. Art Deco is a unique culture that people have saved through the years, the unique type of design is very glamorous in modern cities, and there are also plenty around Buenos Aires, each piece of architecture is also saved completely, having these old types of buildings in 2024 is very unique, but due to its uniqueness, I don’t consider it to be endangered because people like these places, therefore for tourism usage, Art Deco buildings won’t be abandon.

Photo Gallery (Canva)

The name comes from the meaning cave of hands, which people found around the 19th century when people were still exploring a new land, according to research, it was found by the hunter groups from South America. This is a unique culture they have in Argentina, and keeping the artwork fine and viewable is very impressive nowadays, with that, people could still go visit these special locations without certain passes, and most of all, the research behind this artwork is way more far than what it is knowns at the beginning, the effort used in this piece of work is very unique, the passion of learning this could also be a unique idea in Argentina.

Pato, also known as juego del pato, was the national sport of Argentina (1953 - 2010), which in Spanish translates to “duck game”. This game is a mixture of polo, basketball and the fictional sport from harry potter - quidditch, it was originally played with a duck, 2 hoops, 2 teams of four people and horses, the players fight for possession of the duck, and they score by throwing the duck made ball into a vertically positioned ring, the winner is the team that scored the most goals after 6 8-minute periods. There are very little to none safety rules in this game, causing many players to be trampled to death by the horses and this caused the pato to be banned by the roman catholic church many times in history. Pato was the national sport of Argentina, but as globalization happens, football took its title as the national sport of Argentina and Pato has now become the traditional sport of Argentina that is played by the wealthy.

The foundation of Argentinian ceramics lies in the ancient pottery techniques of indigenous tribes such as guarani, diaguitar, and diaguita. each of these communities has its distinctive styles, these differences in art are often characterized by geometric patterns and repeated symbols.

Argentinian ceramics were hugely influenced when the Spanish colonized Argentina, as European techniques and styles of making pottery were introduced to Argentinian ceramics, fusing indigenous and European culture. Modern Argentinian ceramics combine contemporary artistic expressions and traditional techniques. Artists today experiment with different designs and forms, creating pieces that range from functional to purely for the pleasure of the eye while expressing the diverse culture of Argentina

paganism is a term used in the 4th century by Christians for people in the Roman Empire who practiced polytheism, other other religions other than Judaism. meaning they defined people who weren't Christian and Jewish as a pagan.

pagans believe that "the divine is with us in the natural world, not in some faraway place in the sky." and they often believe in multiple gods and goddesses.

paganism is not technically a religion, but more like a belief, like atheism. (atheism is the belief that there is no god, but it is not a religion)

paganism plays a big role in impacting Argentina, it creates cultural diversity, bringing a variation of religions and beliefs to the country. paganism also plays a part in indigenous influence, as stated before, paganism is a belief that is not Christian or Judaism and is polytheistic, this results in many indigenous religions in Argentina being pagan.

Argentina people are used to eating their dinner as the main meal in the day, after a hard day of working, most people would go to steak houses for some appetizers. During the day, Argentinian people first eat their breakfast and lunch, then for their sweets, they go to the coffee shop for some snacks and until 8 pm or later, they will eat some appetizers as dinner. The most common appetizers would be empanadas which are small pockets with beef, cheese, and pepper, these ingredients are put into the pocket and it would be fried until the duo becomes brownish. Each dish would include 3 or more empanadas, it is the most often seen dish in diners. This is a unique culture for the Argentine people to eat so late because most people don’t have the time to get afternoon teas. After getting full already, they still eat their dinner as their main meal with appetizers, different from other countries, they are used to not eating the main course with side dishes but lots of appetizers.

The audio file shows the Argentian diet and some normal time managements for them

We are part of the Kaleidoscope Museum Project team, an online organization. I am Jieci Lin, me and my team exist in hopes of preserving the different and unique cultures of Argentina that may or will be endangered. This is a cultural preservation website, this page consists of different Argentine cultures that we believe should be preserved. On this website, you can see the different cultures of Argentina, including an introduction and description of these unique cultures of the country. Our main audiences are online communities curious about the culture of our assigned countries that log onto their computers every day. This project is urgent, as many cultures in the world are disappearing, and this is due to globalization and globalized trends and "cultures" taking over traditional cultures of countries. Through this website, we will promote interesting cultures and diversity for different global communities that need help to represent themselves by increasing the exposure of weaker cultures.
